  • Patent number: 11226325
Abstract: The invention is a method for determining at least one of the quantity and the quality of the hydrocarbons generated by maturing of the organic material of a mother rock of a sedimentary basin based on values representing the artificial maturation of an immature sample representing the mother rock and a sequence of artificial maturing temperatures. The method according to the invention determines the values of the kinetic parameters of a reaction rate law by minimizing simultaneously: (i) a difference between the values predicted by the reaction rate law applied with a historical record of temperatures of the basin determined by basin simulation and the measurements of the advance of the maturation of the organic material and (ii) a difference between the values predicted by the reaction rate law applied according to the sequence of temperatures for the artificial maturing and the values representing the artificial maturing.

  • Publication number: 20200378243
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of determining a dominant hydrocarbon migration mechanism in a sedimentary basin, using a numerical basin simulation simulating a hydrocarbon migration according to at least two migration mechanisms and measurements of physical quantities performed in the basin. A numerical basin simulation and a gridded representations of different states is used to determine a contribution of each hydrocarbon migration mechanism for each state for the cells of the gridded representation of this state.

  • Patent number: 10724345
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for exploitation of a sedimentary basin. Exploitation of the sedimentary basin is permitted by the choice of zones of interest within the basin, the zones being determined by use of maps of total organic carbon TOC and of hydrogen index HI of at least one sedimentary layer. According to the invention, the maps of total organic carbon TOC and of hydrogen index HI are obtained taking into account the current values of TOCA(W) and HIA(W) at the level of the well and taking into account the maps of bathymetry BM and of sedimentation rate SM.

  • Patent number: 10458208
Abstract: This invention is a method of developing a sedimentary basin containing hydrocarbons, by using basin simulation. Starting with gridded representations representative of a basin for each time step of a simulation, for each time step and in each cell of the gridded representation the following steps are performed. First a determination of at least one amount of biogenic gas produced in the cell for the time step is preformed followed by determining at least one amount of biogenic gas dissolved in water present in the cell at the time step, and determining therefrom an amount of free biogenic gas in the cell at the time step; then, accounting for advective transport of the quantity of biogenic gas dissolved in the water of the cell at the time step.

  • Publication number: 20190196060
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for modeling a sedimentary basin, said sedimentary basin having undergone a plurality of geological events defining a sequence of states {Ai} of the basin, each extending between two successive geological events, the method comprising the implementation by data processing means (21) of steps of: (a) Obtaining measurements of physical quantities of said basin, which are acquired from sensors (20); (b) For each of said states Ai, constructing a meshed representation of said basin depending on said measurements of physical quantities; (c) For each of said states Ai, and for each cell of the meshed representation, 1. computing an effective stress applied to the cell at the end of the state Ai; 2. computing an overpressure in the cell at the end of the state Ai depending on said effective stress computed at the end of the state Ai.

  • Patent number: 7385709
Abstract: A method and a microscopy imaging apparatus for generating an optically sectioned image of a specimen are provided. The method comprises the steps of: illuminating the specimen with a modulating, spatially periodic illumination pattern; imaging said specimen on a conjugate image plane; acquiring a plurality of signals at respective positions on said image plane, each signal corresponding to the incident light intensity at that position and having an oscillatory component caused by the modulation of the illumination pattern; and measuring a characteristic of the oscillatory component of each of the signals, whereby the measured characteristics when combined in their relative positions generate an optically sectioned image of the specimen.
