Publication number: 20260085985Abstract: Inconclusive and inconsistent results from existing haptic testing systems, e.g. for trackpads, which include rigidly mounted resistive load cells and accelerometers, prevent accurate results, especially in a high-volume production context. The use of a rigidly mounted sensor is unsuitable because a trackpad will generally be softer than the actuation system, whereby, when the haptic event is fired, the vast majority of the energy will be lost in the trackpad, while the sensor remains almost stationary. Accordingly, an improved test probe for a haptic device configured for mounting on a robotic arm, comprises: a contact tip configured for contacting the haptic device; a sensor configured for measuring a threshold force of the piezoelectric actuator device, and an haptic characteristic, e.g. acceleration, of a resulting haptic response thereof at a same time and a same location; and a compliant element configured for enabling the sensor to move relative to the haptic device.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 11, 2023Publication date: March 26, 2026Inventors: LouisDavid ARCHAMBAULT, Cedric LECLERC, Mathilde CHARMEAU

Patent number: 12517587Abstract: A trackpad assembly provides a better uniformity of the user input and the retroactive tactile feedback by providing a plurality of piezo-electric actuators mounted on one side of a PCB configured to generate electrical signals in response to a force application by a user on the top touch surface on another side of the PCB. A control circuit is configured to receive the electrical signals from the plurality of piezo-electric actuators, determine the position of the force application on the top touch surface and generate haptic response signals, which may be targeted based on the position of the force application.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 2022Date of Patent: January 6, 2026Assignee: Boréas Technologies Inc.Inventors: Guillaume Chauvette, Mathilde Charmeau, Jean-Martin Duhamel, Nicolas Gonthier

Publication number: 20250211229Abstract: A push button system for an electronic device, e.g. smart device, comprises a piezoelectric element; a first sensor configured for measuring a first force or strain on one side of the piezoelectric element; and a second sensor for measuring a second force or strain on an opposite side of the piezoelectric element. A button configured to pivot and reciprocate in an outer frame of the electronic device, includes one or more contact points, such as a first pedestal for contacting the piezoelectric element on one side, and/or a second pedestal for contacting the piezoelectric element on an opposite side. By utilizing, e.g. comparing, a first electrical signal generated by the first force or strain and a second electrical signal generated by the second force or strain, a location of the force application by a user on the button can be determined and a corresponding response can be activated.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 27, 2024Publication date: June 26, 2025Inventors: LouisDavid Archambault, Pascal-Frédéric St-Laurent, Jean-Martin Duhamel, Gabriel Lemieux, Mathilde Charmeau, Cédric Leclerc

Publication number: 20250034932Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for an automated door system for a vehicle. In one example, the automated door system may include a key fob configured with a transmitter. A set of sensors may be located at a door of the vehicle which may be communicatively linked to a vehicle control unit. A position of the key fob relative to the door may be monitored by the set of sensors to provide hands-free actuation of the door motor.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 15, 2024Publication date: January 30, 2025Inventors: Sylvain CASTONGUAY, Mathilde CHARMEAU, Ali IDRICI
