Abstract: A system and method include detecting an authenticated device in a proximity zone of a vehicle, activating a perception system for the proximity zone of the vehicle, and detecting, in user data captured by the perception system, a user in the proximity zone of the vehicle and approaching the vehicle. The system and method also include classifying, based on the user data, an identity of the user in the proximity zone of the vehicle, identifying a target door of the vehicle for the user based on the classified identity of the user, and instructing the target door of the vehicle to automatically open for the user.

Abstract: A system for operating an access door in a vehicle having a vehicle body includes a powertrain configured to operate the vehicle in propulsion mode. The system also includes a door mechanism configured to latch the door to the body and an actuator configured to apply a force to the door to affect door closure and latching. The system additionally includes an electronic controller configured to identify when the vehicle is in motion and detect when the access door is not fully closed and latched. The controller is also configured to determine when the force required to fully close and latch the door using the actuator exceeds a threshold force value. The controller is further configured to trigger the actuator to apply a first force exceeding the threshold force value to fully close and latch the door.

Abstract: Methods and systems are providing for controlling opening a door of a vehicle, including detection sensors that obtain detection sensor data as to an object in proximity to the vehicle; input sensors that obtain input sensor data as to a requested opening position for the door; and a processor that determines, using the sensor data, whether the object would interfere with the opening of the door to the requested opening position; automatically opening the door to the requested opening position when it is determined that the object would not interfere with the opening of the door to the requested opening position; and taking corrective action, instead of opening the door to the requested opening position, when it is determined by the processor that the object would interfere with the opening of the door to the requested opening position.
