  • Patent number: 6350187
Abstract: An abrasive machine includes a rotatably driven tool, chucking equipment for holding the work pieces and a feeding device for effecting relative displacement between the work piece and the rotatably driven tool. The machine further includes a tubular cylindrical housing, a shaft provided with a recess, a rotatable outer casing peripherally enclosing the housing, and a lid member connected to the casing and extending radially over a first end of the tubular cylindrical housing such that an inner surface of the lid members faces the first end of the housing. The rotatably driven tool includes abrasive material carried on the inner surface of the lid member. The shaft is arranged such that when the shaft executes an angular displacement, the work piece held by the chucking equipment is caused to approach and contact the abrasive material.

  • Patent number: 6341547
Abstract: A lathe includes a frame for supporting rotatable chucking equipment adapted to hold a work piece. The frame further supports at least one lathe tool for machining the work piece. The chucking equipment and the lathe tool are displaceable relative to each other in at least a radial direction. The lathe includes a housing attached to the frame, with the housing extending about a longitudinal axis and having a cylindrical inner space extending from one end of the housing. The inner space has a longitudinal axis parallel to, though offset from, the longitudinal axis of the housing. An angularly displaceable shaft is arranged in the inner space and carries the chucking equipment. A rotatable outer casing peripherally encloses the cylindrical elongate housing. The rotatable outer casing carries the lathe tool. Rotation of the rotatable outer casing causes the lathe tool to effect a radial displacement relative to the chucking equipment.

  • Patent number: 6322423
Abstract: An internal abrasive machine abrades material from an inner surface of a workpiece. The machine includes a casing rotated about a first axis, with a workpiece rotated therewith about the first axis. A housing is disposed coaxially inside of the casing, and a shaft is mounted eccentrically in the housing. The casing and housing are angularly movable relative to one another. A drivable spindle is mounted in the shaft, the spindle carrying an abrasive tool. The spindle is offset eccentrically with respect to the first axis and carries an abrasive tool disposed inside the workpiece. A motor is provided to produce relative angular movement between the housing and the shaft to displace the spindle laterally with respect to the first axis and into contact with the inner surface of the workpiece.

  • Patent number: 6241590
Abstract: An abrasive machine for grinding material from an outer surface of a workpiece. The machine includes a rotationally driven casing having an opening at one axial end thereof. The opening is defined by an annular edge which constitutes a grinding wheel. A shaft is disposed within the casing and forms a space whose center axis is offset from the center axis of the casing. Disposed within the space and supported by the shaft is a clamping mechanism which holds the workpiece within the plane of the annular edge. By turning the shaft relative to the casing, the clamping mechanism and the workpiece will be moved toward or away from the path of travel of the annular edge, due to the eccentric relationship between the casing and the space.
