  • Publication number: 20040226442
Abstract: In a vehicle air is compressed for being used in the brake system of the vehicle, for instance. In the compressor, used for the compression, the air is contaminated with oil and solid particles. In order to be relieved from these particles, before the air is conveyed through a drying filter, the compressed is brought to rotation by means of a rotating member in a centrifugal separator. The rotating member may advantageously include a pile of conical separation discs forming flow passages between each other for the compressed air to be cleaned. By means of an efficient cleaning of the compressed air from particles the life time of the drying filter may be increased.

  • Patent number: 6519990
Abstract: A method of controlling a rolling mill comprising at least two mill stands (1,2) arranged after each other, wherein a first stand (1) is arranged upstream of a second stand (2). Each of said stands comprises two spaced rolls (3,4,5,6). An elongated material (8) is fed between the rolls of each stand by rotating the rolls. The width of the material (8) is measured at a location downstream of said second stand (2), and if the measured width is not within predefined first upper and lower limit values, an interstand tension between said first (1) and said second stand (2) is adjusted to a value corresponding to the deviation of the measured width from said predefined limit values in order to control the width of said material (8), to be within said first upper and lower limit values.

  • Patent number: 6445429
Abstract: A liquid crystal display panel in a mobile telephone is directly mounted to either a printed circuit board or a frame portion of a mobile telecommunication instrument, e.g., a telephone. An angular mounting structure for the liquid crystal display panel has a pair of support ribs that extend outwardly from a substantially planar portion of a frame, or back cover, of a telephone. Thus, the need for additional mounting parts is obviated. In one embodiment, the liquid crystal display panel is biasedly received within recesses provided on distal ends of support ribs extending from the frame portion. Preferably, the distal ends of the ribs have distal end surfaces which are adapted to fixedly support the liquid crystal display panel in predefined nonparallel relationship with respect to the planar portion of the back cover, with the aid of an adhesive material, e.g., a two sided adhesive tape. A method of assembly for mounting the liquid crystal display using the two sided adhesive tape is disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5005511
Abstract: Air-driven, low-frequency sound generator with a positive feedback system, comprising, as a sound emitter, an open resonator (11) for the generation of standing gas-borne sound waves which produce a varying gas pressure inside the resonator; and feeder (10) with a tube (14) for the supply of pressure gas to the resonator and a back and forth movable springing valve slide (15) whose position remains unaffected by the pressure gas and which regulates the gas flow from the tube while creating a modulated flow of pressure to the resonator. The tube is surrounded by a surge tank (13), connected to the pressure gas source, and the valve slide is arranged as a piston movable inside the tube and is set to regulate a connecting opening (20) between the surge tank and the inside of the tube. This opening is situated at one end surface (19) of the piston and said end surface is being exposed to the inside of the resonator by means of the one end of the tube communicating therewith.

  • Patent number: 4911077
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a method of producing charges for cannons with extremely high charge density and favorable burning properties from the standpoints of both wear and pressure vs time characteristics. According to the invention, the charge is formed of mutually parallel, bundled tubular propellant rods which have been provided with specially designed rupture points which cause the charge to be ignited as a pure tubular propellant charge of large length in relation to the diameter of the combustion channels, but finally burns as a pure granular propellant. The disclosure also relates to propellant charges produced according to the disclosed method.

  • Patent number: 4721395
Abstract: Method and apparatus for increasing the turbulence in a gas exposed to low frequency sound. The gas is exposed to sound produced by a sound generator (10) which has a tubular resonator (11) having an open end and is operated at one of the resonance frequencies of the resonator having a maximum frequency of 150 Hz. The gas is flown into the tubular resonator through the open end thereof and is discharged from the resonator substantially in a region, where the sound pressure of the standing wave in the resonator has a node, after having passed through a substantial length of the resonator.

  • Patent number: 4688465
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for production of cartridged propellant charges for barrel weapons with charge weights up to 1.4 kg/liter.According to the invention, more granular or particle-shaped propellant powder is driven down or compacted than can be housed in free-running condition within the same volume by means of a piston or plunger (6) in a single stage down into a case (4) the inside of which is coated with a friction-reducing coating. The piston or plunger (6) can then be provided with an elastically deformable leading part (7) of e.g. rubber and/or with a conically tipped leading end (7a). According to one variant of the invention the powder is pressed down into a bag (12, 13) of combustible fibre material which has been inserted in advance down into the case (4) coated internally with a friction-reducing coating or which has itself been impregnated with a friction-reducing coating.

  • Patent number: 4650413
Abstract: The invention relates to method and apparatus for the combustion of fluidal fuels. The fuel is dispersed in combustion air and, in order to improve the combustion rate and efficiency, is exposed to a high particle velocity of a sound produced by a low frequency sound generator. The frequency of the sound is determined by the sound generator, the maximum frequency being 30 Hz. A reciprocating movement of combustion air and fuel particles entrained therein is obtained. The sound generator is a quarter wave type sound generator with a tubular resonator forming a diffuser at the open end thereof.
