    Abstract: A display panel driving system, constituted in such a manner that the occurrence of a display irregularity on the display panel can be suppressed without regard to the characteristics or the driving condition of the display panel, is disclosed. An up-counter counts the number of the picture elements which emit light when the EL display panel is horizontally scanned, and the counting result thus obtained is outputted as an addressing signal to an EEPROM. Stored in the EEPROM are data maps MAP, MAP in which pulse width data are written at a plurality of addresses corresponding to the counting ranges of the up-counter. A signal generation means outputs a blank signal BLK which determines the pulse width of a data voltage on the basis of the pulse width data addressed by the up-counter.

    Abstract: An apparatus and method for preventing a computation error of band-by-band bit allocation between an encoder and a decoder. In the encoder, an input LSP (line spectrum pair) coefficient is quantized by a quantization device, and a quantized output is output. In a codebook referring section, the look up of a codebook in which computation results are prestored is performed by using an LSP index of the first stage, and band-by-band bit allocation information is created. LSP indexes for each quantization stage are supplied to a decoder. In the decoder, the look up of the codebook is performed using the LSP index, and dequantization is performed on the basis of the created band-by-band bit allocation information.

    Abstract: A first metal film of a first metal is deposited on a silicon-containing film containing silicon as a principal constituent, and a second metal film of a nitride of a second metal is deposited on the first metal film. Thereafter, a metal film with a high melting point is deposited on the second metal film, so as to form a multi-layer film of the silicon-containing film, the first metal film, the second metal film and the metal film with a high melting point. The multi-layer film is then subjected to annealing at a temperature of 750° C. or more. In this case, the first metal is nitrided to be changed into a nitride of the first metal and a silicide layer of the first metal is not formed in a surface portion of the silicon-containing film before the annealing.

The partition wall is formed between the intake air collecting chamber and the air intake passageway. Further more, the air intake control valve is actuated according to engine speeds of the internal combustion engine such that the air intake passageway portion is opened and closed by one of the valve bodies whereas the opening in the partition wall is opened and closed by the other of the valve bodies.

    Abstract: A metal hydride is supplied into a reactor while being converted into fine particles. By injecting water from an injector, the metal hydride is hydrolyzed to generate hydrogen. The water supplied to the reactor is water generated by a fuel cell. This allows omission or a size reduction of a water tank for the hydrolysis, and therefore allows a size reduction of the system as a whole. It is possible to adopt a construction in which waste heat from the fuel cell is supplied to pyrolyze the metal hydride, a construction in which heat generated by the hydrolysis is used to pyrolyze another metal hydride, etc.

The first and second pixel potential layers are electrically connected to each other by way of a corresponding transparent pixel electrode. Therefore, the rotation of the liquid crystal molecules caused by applied electric field makes full contribution to the panel transmittance, preventing the obtainable total panel transmittance from lowering. This means that a higher transmittance is obtainable.
