  • Patent number: 4304207
Abstract: An exhaust gas recirculation system for an internal combustion engine includes an exhaust gas recirculation passage for communicating an exhaust port with an intake passage through a recirculation flow control valve. The recirculation system according to the invention comprises a timing valve in the recirculation passage adapted to open at specified moments for extracting exhaust gases containing highly concentrated hydrocarbons. According to the invention, moreover, the exhaust port is concentrically divided into a plurality of ports to extract exhaust gases having high concentrations of hydrocarbons from the outermost divided port adjacent to the inner peripheral walls of the exhaust port to recirculate them into intake mixtures, thereby reducing the concentrations of hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxides in exhaust gases and thus fuel consumption.

  • Patent number: 4302075
Abstract: This invention relates to a device for splitting a light beam applicable to a light metering apparatus of a single lens reflex camera. Having a diffraction lattice structure built in the condenser lens, this device has both a beam splitting function and a light condensing function. More in detail, this device includes a condenser lens section and a transparent sheet having a diffraction lattice in one portion which are interconnect by having a lower index layer inbetween. One portion of the light that passes through the taking lens of the camera and is incident on said transparent sheet is diffracted by said diffraction lattice, and further the diffracted light is totally reflected at the boundary surface between said lower index layer and transparent sheet, and transmitted to the end surface of the transparent sheet when it is detected.

  • Patent number: 4302671
Abstract: A radiation image recorded in a stimulable phosphor is read out by stimulating the stimulable phosphor by use of stimulating rays such as visible light or infrared rays. Upon stimulated, the stimulable phosphor emits light which is detectable by a photosensor. The radiation image readout device includes a photosensor for detecting the light emitted by the phosphor, and a reflecting optical element like a mirror located between the phosphor and the photodetector for reflecting stimulating rays advancing between the phosphor and the photosensor toward the phosphor. The reflecting optical element has a very small size not to intercept the light emitted by the phosphor and detected by the photosensor as much as possible.
