  • Patent number: 4501249
Abstract: A fuel injection control apparatus for controlling the amount and the timing of fuel injection with the aid of a microcomputer includes a hot-wire type flow sensor for detecting an instantaneous intake air flow velocity within an intake air passage of an internal combustion engine. The output signal of the hot-wire type flow sensor is sampled at every predetermined crank angle or at every predetermined time point to be stored in a RAM. The time at which the instantaneous velocity of the intake air flow within the intake passage becomes maximum is detected. The fuel injection timing of a fuel injection valve disposed in the intake passage is so controlled that the fuel injection is terminated around the time point at which the instantaneous intake air flow velocity is maximum.

  • Patent number: 4497302
Abstract: A fuel injection control apparatus for internal combustion engine includes an air flow meter provided in a path through which air is sucked into an internal combustion engine, a fuel injector for controlling the amount of fuel in response to a signal from the air flow meter to produce the mixture of sucked air and fuel, and an electrical control device including a microprocessor responsive to the signal from the air flow meter to produce, by computation of the microprocessor a signal for controlling the fuel injector. The microprocessor computes the fuel injection amount or duration and dead time on the basis of the signal from the air flow meter. The beginning of the fuel injection by the fuel injector is altered in accordance with the dead time which is variable with the air flow amount.

  • Patent number: 4482962
Abstract: A method of electronically controlling the operation of an internal combustion engine is effected on the basis of results of arithmetic operations of digital control quantities derived from detected operating conditions of the engine through digital processing operations. The digital processing operations are subdivided into a number of tasks in dependence on the control functions to be performed. In addition, these tasks are subdivided into a plurality of priority levels. The memory has a task control block having run or execution flag areas in response to the priority levels and start request flag areas in response to the tasks, the start request flag areas being classified in accordance with the levels, in order to make it easy to correct, alter or add tasks. An order for starting the execution of the task is always controlled in accordance with the condition of the run flags and the start request flags.

  • Patent number: 4455980
Abstract: A sensor for detecting the internal pressure is provided in the cylinder to detect the combustion condition in the engine cylinder. In order to process the output of the sensor in accordance with the volume of the combustion chamber, the amount of change of combustion volume between timings of fetching the sensor outputs is multiplied by the sensor output, or the sensor output is fetched in accordance with the amount of change of combustion volume. In this way, the amount of work is detected from the sensor output. The ignition timing is subjected to feedback control in such a manner as to attain the maximum effective amount of work.

  • Patent number: 4433650
Abstract: A control system employs a microcomputer, which controls the starting operation of a spark ignition type engine provided with a fuel injection system. The control system is loaded with, at least, contact information of an ignition switch for connecting an ignition device to a power supply and a starter switch for connecting a starter motor to the power supply, and an output signal of a temperature sensor for detecting the temperature of cooling water of the engine. Where the cooling water temperature is not higher than a predetermined temperature, a fuel pump which supplies pressurized fuel to an injector of the fuel injection system is started simultaneously with the closure of the ignition switch, and this fuel pump is stopped during the operation of the starter motor.

  • Patent number: 4377137
Abstract: A method of starting the operation of an internal combustion engine utilizes a turning force transmitted from wheels of a vehicle through a clutch in addition to a driving force generated by a starting motor. A computer for controlling engine operations detects the initiation of the engine starting operation on the basis of the rotating speed of the engine or intake air quantity and additionally detects the termination of the engine starting operation when the engine rotating speed or intake air quantity exceeds an associated reference value. When the engine stops in the course of running of a vehicle, the engine can be re-started under the influence of the inertial force of the vehicle without resorting to the operation of the starting motor.

  • Patent number: 4363307
Abstract: An engine control system with a microcomputer is disclosed which controls the amount of fuel injection of a spark ignition engine having a fuel injection system. In each intake process of a cylinder of the engine, a regular fuel injection is effected. An acceleration fuel injection is effected only once in each interval of said regular fuel injection in the case where the task actuated in predetermined cycles regardless of the engine rotational speed decides that the engine is in an accelerated condition.

  • Patent number: 4131930
Abstract: A thermal time-delay switch comprises contacts which are normally engaged, a first bimetallic element associated with one of the contacts to separate the contacts from each other with temperature rise in the first bimetallic element, a second bimetallic element associated with the other of the contacts to bring the contacts into engagement with each other with a temperature rise in the second bimetallic element, and a heating resistor provided for each of the first and second bimetallic elements to heat it. The relative displacement between the contacts caused by the first bimetallic element with the temperature rise therein is larger than that caused by the second bimetallic element, so that the contacts are separated from each other substantially independent of voltage fluctuations over a wide range of a voltage source feeding the two heating resistors when the heating resistors have been connected to the voltage source for a given period of time.

  • Patent number: 3953692
Abstract: A pressure responsive switch performing switching operation for converting pressure variations into electric variations is disclosed in which the actuating pressure of a snap switching member is adjusted by changing the contact pressure between a pressure applied member and the snap switching member which is in contact with the pressure-applied member. The gap between the break contact of the pressure responsive switch is adjusted thereby to adjust the difference between the pressure between the make contact of the switch when it is closed and the pressure between the break contact of the same when it is closed.
