  • Publication number: 20140258129
Abstract: A system and method are provided for establishing a secure communication session de novo. A first device and a second device are enabled with two separate and unconnected communications channels. The first channel extends to a service provider server (“server”) and preferably the Internet. The second channel may be formed by the first device and the second device transferring information by light, sound or vibration. The first device and the server communicate a session identifier via the first channel. The first device communicates the session identifier and optionally an encryption key and other information to the first device via the second channel. The second device transmits a message with an encrypted payload to the server referencing the session identifier via the first channel. The message is delivered to the first device by reference to the session identifier, either automatically or by a request message delivered to the server.

  • Patent number: 8000502
Abstract: A portable memory storage device is disclosed where access to information on the device is granted only upon proper biometric authentication of a user. The device includes a controller, a non-volatile memory which may be a flash memory, and a biometric scanner system for controlling access to the information within the non-volatile memory. Each of the controller, non-volatile memory and biometric scanner system may be mounted in a base of the portable device, with the biometric system having an exposed surface on a top portion of the base for accepting biometric data such as a fingerprint. A cover is provided which includes a USB connector capable of mating within a USB port of the host device to establish communications between the portable and host devices. The cover also covers the exposed portion of the biometric scanner to protect the sensor when the portable memory storage device is not in use.

  • Patent number: 7844716
Abstract: A computer network system establishes an instant messaging (IM) session between a first user registered with a first ISP (ISP) and at least one user registered with a second ISP when the two ISPs operate using different IM protocols. The ISPs each contain a Local IM server connected to each registered user. Each ISP also contains a Universal IM server that is connected to the distributed network. The Universal IM server includes a database that stores routing information and Presence information for each user registered with the second ISPs and facilitates communications between the first and second user using a universal format, such as XML.

  • Publication number: 20100152434
Abstract: Therapeutically active nucleosides and associated methods are provided. In one aspect, a nucleoside molecule having a general structural similar to ATP. Such nucleosides have a structure that allows binding to, and subsequent regulation of, protein kinase molecules. As such, the nucleosides of the present invention have may be capable of treating a variety of kinase-related medical disorders.

  • Patent number: 7554813
Abstract: Enclosed re-programmable non-volatile memory cards include at least two sets of electrical contacts to which the internal memory is connected. The two sets of contacts have different patterns, preferably in accordance with two different contact standards such as a memory card standard and that of the Universal Serial Bus (USB). One memory card standard that can be followed is that of the Secure Digital (SD) card. The cards can thus be used with different hosts that are compatible with one set of contacts but not the other. A cover that is hinged to the card to normally cover one set of contacts can be rotated out of the way by hand when that set of contacts is being used.
