Publication number: 20210268322Abstract: An air maintenance device for a dry pipe Fire Protection System (FPS) is capable of measuring an FPS piping network pressure leak rate. The air maintenance device includes a normally-open solenoid isolating it from all gas sources, and a pressure sensor in gas flow communication with the FPS piping network. An electronics module initiates a pressure leak rate measurement operation by reading the pressure sensor, and closing the solenoid, at the beginning of a predetermined duration. At the expiration of the predetermined duration at least a final pressure reading is taken, and the solenoid is opened. A FPS piping network pressure leak rate is calculated by subtracting the final pressure reading from the initial pressure reading, and dividing by the predetermined duration. If intermediate readings indicate a pressure below a threshold, the measurement is aborted and the solenoid is opened to allow the gas sources to maintain system pressure.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 2, 2020Publication date: September 2, 2021Inventors: Matt Thomas, Tracy Dusek

Publication number: 20180027925Abstract: There are disclosed high heel shoes where separate components combine to create load balancing internal footwear technology. A two-piece system includes interlocking toe bed and shank constructed of complex three dimensional curved surfaces which create an intricately sculpted volume to provide structural support down the length of the entire foot. The toe bed provides a wide base and keeps the big toe pointed straight (at an approximately 10° angle). A heel maximizes the surface area of the bottom of the heel at the point of strike with the ground while retaining a minimal and aesthetically appealing silhouette from the side view. The toe bed and shank feature a composition of layered materials which when combined work to provide both stability and shock absorption to the ball of the foot during the foot strike of walking. An internal support structure provides a padded barrier and intermediary between the rigidity of the shank and the softness of the shoe upper.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 4, 2017Publication date: February 1, 2018Inventors: Navjeet K. Singh, Matt Thomas, Dr. Amanda Parkes

Patent number: 9086373Abstract: Methods and systems for real time, in situ monitoring and blending of hydrocarbon fluids from multiple transmission lines feeding into a downstream line or vessel are described. The method and system include the scanning of the NIR range on fluids within each of at least two transmission lines. The spectroscopic optical data from the two scans is used to determine flow rates of the fluids from each transmission line to, for example, achieve a desired energy content, physical properties, or speciation in the blended fluid.Type: GrantFiled: November 3, 2014Date of Patent: July 21, 2015Assignee: JP3 Measurement, LLCInventors: Joseph Paul Little, III, Matt Thomas

Publication number: 20140361172Abstract: Methods and systems for real time, in situ detection of a contaminant in a fluid, and particularly the determination of hydrogen sulfide concentration in a natural gas or other hydrocarbon stream, are provided. The system may include a scanning source with wavelength scanning range of 1560-1610 nm and wavelength resolution of 0.01 nm or better. The light from the scanning source is split to two portions: reference path to reference detector with no fluid in the transmission, and sample path to sample detector with fluid in the transmission. The major noise from the light source and transmitting optics is cancelled out by applying log ratio calculation to the two detector signals. The spectroscopic optical data, however obtained, must then be combined into an analytical processing module containing models that analyze the contaminant quantitative data.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 11, 2014Publication date: December 11, 2014Inventors: Joseph Paul Little, III, William Tsakopulos, Matt Thomas

Patent number: 7958735Abstract: A turbine static structure having reduced leakage air is disclosed. A static structure turbine support ring having few segments is disclosed in which the segments have improved thermal expansion capability with reduced air leakage. A plurality of radially extending slots are placed in the segments to reduce stiffness. In order to minimize air leakage through the support ring, generally circumferential slots are placed in the ring and connect with the generally radially extending slots. Positioned in each of the generally radially extending slots and generally circumferential slots, and in contact with each other, are two sheet metal plates. The plates are staked to the support ring structure so as to provide a seal member, yet compensate for thermal growth.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 2006Date of Patent: June 14, 2011Assignee: Power Systems Manufacturing, LLCInventors: Charlie Ellis, J. Page Strohl, Matt Thomas

Patent number: 6612213Abstract: A method and device for diverting signatures is disclosed. A first cutting device partially cuts a web, while a second cutting device downstream of the first cutting device fully cuts the web so as to form a plurality of signatures. At least one first belt and at least one second belt hold the plurality of signatures, with the first belt having at least one first raised outer section and passing through at least part of the second cutting device, and with the second belt having at least one second raised outer section. The first and second raised outer sections interact to offset the plurality of signatures so as to define an alternating first stream and second stream of the plurality of signatures.Type: GrantFiled: November 8, 1999Date of Patent: September 2, 2003Assignee: Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AGInventors: Paul Emmett Bredenberg, Matt Thomas Sharkady, Richard Daniel Curley, Kevin Lauren Cote
