  • Publication number: 20170026222
Abstract: A signal method of processing in a receiver a signal that has been encoded and interleaved in a transmitter comprising: receiving a signal, process the signal to obtain a stream of soft metrics representing bit probability of symbols in a predetermined constellation; applying to said soft metric a compression operation that preserves the total length of each group of soft metrics relative to a same constellation symbol; rearranging the stream of compressed soft metrics so as to inverse the interleaving done in the transmitter.

  • Publication number: 20160330515
Abstract: The invention provides a digital converter characterized by comprising a supervising controller, a multiplexer, at least one of a first operational processing block, and at least one of a second operational processing block. The multiplexer receives a plurality of input streams of a plurality of sources and merges the input streams of the sources into a single data stream, wherein the input streams including a plurality of sections each of which has one or more data fields for storing audio/video program data. The at least one of the first operational processing block decodes the content-protected sections of the input streams in the single data stream selectively to unprotect contents of the selected sections. The at least one of the second operational processing block receives the sections of the single data stream selectively, and applies content protection means to the selected sections of the input streams in the single data stream that require the content protection means to generate processed sections.

  • Publication number: 20150245092
Abstract: A digital converter device to distribute audio/video programs into an IP network, for example a Home network, or a WiFi LAN. It can receive one or more Transport Streams containing audio and/or video programs, and has plurality of programmable operational blocks that can selectively process transport stream sections, as well as an IP packet generator. Processing in operational blocks is determined by tags inserted in the sections of the transport stream, such that the operation of the converter is highly flexible and reconfigurable. Importantly, the device can be programmed to decrypt protected programs received as transport stream adding content protection measures where appropriate before their distribution in an IP network.

  • Patent number: 9036742
Abstract: A demapping scheme, having a low computational cost, suitable for any transmission in which only exhaustive demapping can guarantee good performance. The scheme, proposed in this document, can be used in any transmission based on no differential modulation. For example the proposed scheme can be directly applied to a transmission on flat fading AWGN channels or to a transmission on frequency selective channels after equalization or on each sub-carrier of an OFDM System. The proposed solution can be applied for the demapping of any communication system. The proposed scheme can be used for rotated and un-rotated constellation.

  • Patent number: 8351526
Abstract: In an OFDM system using pilot cells for channel estimation, time interpolation among pilot cells of different OFDM symbols is commonly used to improve the estimate. The estimated channel impulse response is also windowed to further reduce noise and disturbances. However, for a transmission over a time-varying channel, suboptimal time interpolation, implemented with a filter having only a few taps not matched to the maximum Doppler frequency, degrades channel estimation. As aliases can lead to an erroneous estimate of channel duration and consequent errors in windowing, the present invention implements a technique to detect aliases and correct the estimate of channel duration. Parameters of the detection techniques are optimized by an analysis that provides closed-form expressions of the false alarm and miss detection probabilities.
