  • Publication number: 20180043605
Abstract: A blow mold for making PET containers comprising an inner surface corresponding to the outer outline of the container, on which there are one or more cavities or projections configured to make corresponding respective projections or cavities of the outer surface of the container, wherein the mold comprises one or more venting grooves along the edge delimiting said cavities or projections. A plurality of venting holes are possibly arranged along such grooves, as well as it is also possible for some venting holes to be arranged outside thereof. The width and depth of these are selected according to the wall thickness of the container to be blown to prevent that the deformation of the container during the blowing obstructs the venting grooves and leaves visible marks on the container.

  • Publication number: 20170320610
Abstract: An innovative neck (301) configuration is suggested in order to reduce the weight of a large container for beverage dispenser. The neck (301) comprises a neck finish (303) which extends in length (Ltot) starting from the wide mouth (302) of the container to an annular support ring (305) and a smooth surface cylindrical portion (306) which joins the annular support ring (305) to the body (309) of the container. For functional reasons, the total length (Ltot) of the innovative neck (301) remains the same as the usual traditional necks for this type of container, but due to the short length (Ltot) of the neck finish (303) and said cylindrical portion (306), the weight is reduced.

  • Patent number: 9796119
Abstract: An injection mold of a plastic preform includes first, second and third parts, the third part having a molding cavity defining an axis and adapted to be fixed to a first surface of a mold frame; the second part between the first and third parts slides along the axis to close or open the cavity. The first part includes a rod that slides along the axis through a second surface of the frame. The second part includes: a guiding cage through which the longitudinal rod can slide; a structure; and parallel guiding rods extending to the structure; an assembly sliding inside the cage; and a punch sliding inside the structure and defining a first complementary component of the cavity; wherein the structure defines, together with the punch, a cam system for opening or closing two half-collars which define, when closed, a second complementary component of the cavity.

  • Patent number: 9744691
Abstract: A blow mold for PET bottles has the inner surface which contacts the hot PET during the blowing operation, coated with a layer of ceramic material having a nanometric thickness, of which at least one thickness layer is AI2O3 and/or TiO2 deposited by ALD technique. Due to this technique, the PET preforms are subject to less friction during the contact with the interior of the mold.

Abstract: A bottle made of PET which can be filled with a hot, warm or cold liquid has a neck, a body and a closed bottom. The body has a peripheral groove for pressure relief capable of collapsing in a controlled manner under the bias of an externally applied vertical axial load. The structure of the groove is such that after collapsing the bottle will not be able to resume its original shape unless it is subjected to the application of another external force of sufficient strength in reverse direction with respect to the force which was applied to obtain the collapsed shape.

  • Publication number: 20160229087
Abstract: The invention relates to a new PET preform design that enables a more precise distribution of material in the bottle bottom and avoids the waste of material around the injection point. The thickness BWTmin of the wall at the center of the gate or tip (3) (injection point) is reduced to a minimum in order to avoid the waste of material around the injection point when the preform is blown. This is particular important for carbonated soft drink application since the reduced amount of amorphous material at the center of the gate (3) helps to reduce the risk of stress cracking on the bottle base. Furthermore a step (4) having thickness WTmax in the body wall thickness, in the region of the periphery of the base with WTmax>WT, allows enough material to be available for the proper blowing of the bottle bottom making the bottle more stable.

  • Publication number: 20160214803
Abstract: A plant for the production of containers made of PET comprises at least one rotary carousel for the production of preforms (2) and at least one zone, in which the preforms are either stored or they may be blown on another rotary carousel. The molded preforms are extracted from the carousel (2) by means of a transfer starwheel (50) provided with grippers (4) capable of performing complex translating-rotating type movements and independent grasping movements. The grippers (4) are provided with two suction jaws (90a and 90b) to make the grasping of the preforms more reliable when they are released from the rotary carousel for the production of the preforms (2).

  • Publication number: 20160214279
Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus for cooling a plurality of preforms made of thermoplastic material which continuously move on a conveyor belt. The apparatus includes a cylindrical casing with a vertical extension formed by two coaxial cylinders, such a casing contains a guide crossed by a chain or a cable for transporting the preforms therein. The guide, which forms a closed path, comprises a first helical stretch, which raises from the lower plane starting from a station in which the preforms coming from a conveying device are hooked by the chain or by the cable, a second straight stretch, which returns the preforms to the lower plane once they have reached the upper plane, and a third flat stretch at the height of the lower plane, which returns the preforms to the arrival station. The helical stretch of the guide is contained within a cooling tunnel formed in the gap between the two walls of the outer cylinder and the inner cylinder of said casing.
