    Abstract: In general, embodiments of the present invention provide a method of applying controlled neuromuscular block in a surgical patient until the end of the surgical procedure comprising the steps of (1) inducement of deep neuromuscular block by intravenous administration of an initial bolus dose of a neuromuscular blocking agent, (2) if needed, maintenance of deep neuromuscular block by intravenous application of maintenance doses of the blocking agent, and, in various embodiments, (3) reversal of the neuromuscular block by intravenous application of a bolus dose of a chemical chelator of the pertinent neuromuscular blocking agent.
