  • Publication number: 20110064792
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method and use of RNA interference (RNAi) for the transient, reversible and controlled opening of the tight junctions of the blood brain barrier and/or the blood retinal barrier. This method may be used in the treatment of many diseases and disorders which require the opening of the blood brain barrier and/or blood retinal barrier. Such methods generally involve the use of an RNAi-inducing agent, such as siRNA, miRNA, shRNA or an RNAi-inducing vector whose presence within a cell results in production of an siRNA or shRNA, targeting tight junction proteins to open the blood brain barrier and/or blood retinal barrier.

  • Publication number: 20090150306
Abstract: A method of granting a service provider access to a vehicle of a customer to facilitate provision of services therefor is disclosed. The method includes the acts of scheduling a service appointment with the service provider for servicing at least one of the vehicle and articles placed within the interior or trunk of the vehicle, and, if the service appointment is scheduled for the articles, then locking the interior or trunk of the vehicle with the articles placed therein. The method further includes the acts of attaching a security storage box to the vehicle or in proximity to the vehicle, and locking a means for accessing the interior or trunk of the vehicle in the security storage box, granting access to the service provider to the means for accessing locked in the security storage box, and permitting access to the interior or trunk of the vehicle using the means for accessing to afford service to the vehicle or the articles.

  • Patent number: 7521834
Abstract: A poly-phase electromagnetic device having n winding phases (n>2) wherein each phase is made from a single conductor strand wound in a lap form configuration. The windings are configured such that on assembly to a slotted magnetically conducive base a maximum of n?1 end turns overlapping is achieved so that the slot packing density can be optimized. The preferred configurations also enable neat and compact terminations which facilitates efficient packaging of the completed device. The windings are made either from discrete bobbins which are electrically interconnected upon assembly to the base, or alternatively from strings of continuously formed sub-windings. The latter process in particular enables full or partial automation of the winding and/or assembly process.

  • Publication number: 20080188758
Abstract: A passive skin detection system includes a main body which houses a collection optics system having an image splitting device, a visible light filter mechanism having a plurality of narrow band filters and an image capture system. The image capture system stores visible light data as a plurality of digital images formed from a plurality of pixels. Each of the plurality of digital images is associated with visible light passed through a respective one of the plurality of narrow band filters. An image processing system, operatively connected to the image capture system, compares relative intensities of each of the plurality of digital images to identify one or more of the plurality of pixels having an absorption bandwidth indicating a presence of skin. The processing system determines whether a person, identified by his skin, is present in any of the images captured by the detection system.

  • Publication number: 20070143430
Abstract: A method of routing messages may include providing a listener registry of a plurality of listeners and associated namespaces so that at least one namespace is associated with each of the plurality of listeners. A message may be received from an originating application, and the message may include a message namespace. The message may be stored in a message queue, and a determination may be made to determine if a listener from the listener registry is associated with the message namespace. If no listener from the listener registry is associated with the message namespace, the message may be stored in a parked message queue separate from the message queue. After the message has been in the parked message queue for a predetermined period of time, the message may be deleted from the parked message queue.
