Publication number: 20220322828Abstract: Various embodiments of the coupling platforms described herein are usable to couple storage units, such as modular storage units, to structures, such as to the undersides of benches or tables. One or more of the coupling platforms described herein facilitate the user supporting a newly-disengaged support unit. For example, one or more of the coupling platforms permit the user to place their hands on both sides of the storage unit to complete a disengagement between the coupling platform and the storage unit.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 26, 2022Publication date: October 13, 2022Inventors: George Barton, Aaron S. Blumenthal, Honesto D. Camposagrado, Matthew A. Lownik

Publication number: 20220080560Abstract: A pipe wrench with an extendable handle is provided. The extendible handle may include a web and a flange to reduce bending stress. The pipe wrench may include a locking button that slides within a channel of the web to lock the extension handle at predetermined extended or retracted lengths. The locking button selectively enables the extension or retraction of the extension handle relative to the first handle of the pipe wrench. The locking button is biased by a spring and coupled to the extension handle with an e-clip. The body, the first handle, and/or the extension handle can include composite materials. In some embodiments, carbon fiber reinforced plastics, fiberglass reinforced plastics, and/or other reinforced polymers are used to form one or more features of the pipe wrench.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 23, 2021Publication date: March 17, 2022Inventors: Matthew A. Lownik, Aaron S. Blumenthal

Publication number: 20220040839Abstract: A pipe wrench is provided with an extendable handle that fits within a cavity of the head. A lever locks the extended length of the extendable handle along a continuous spectrum between a maximum and a minimum extension of the handle. The lever includes cam surfaces. In an unlocked position, the thickness of the lever between the pivot and a friction plate is less than the thickness between the pivot and the friction plate in the locked position. The friction plate is a composite comprising a top lever plate, a midsection, and a concave surface. The lever plate and concave surface include hard, durable materials, and the midsection is a soft elastic material that redistributes frictional forces across the frictional block. The channel-lock prevents inadvertent overextension and/or accidental removal of the extendable handle.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 5, 2021Publication date: February 10, 2022Inventor: Matthew A. Lownik

Publication number: 20210100328Abstract: Various carrying mechanisms to transport a storage device, container or unit are shown. The carrying mechanisms actuate between various positions that may interfere with opening a lid of the storage unit. Various configurations of the carrying mechanisms reduce their profile when in use. Also described are multi-segmented carrying mechanisms that provides a beneficial weight distribution while facilitating actuating the carrying mechanism between different positions.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 15, 2020Publication date: April 8, 2021Inventors: Michael Stearns, Christopher S. Hoppe, Aaron S. Blumenthal, Scott M. Hangartner, Benjamin T. Jones, Matthew A. Lownik, George Barton
