Patent number: 11913798Abstract: A system for optimizing charging for a vehicle having a rechargeable energy storage unit and travelling on a route includes a controller. The controller has a processor and tangible, non-transitory memory on which instructions are recorded. Execution of the instructions by the processor causes the controller to obtain details of the route, including surveying local charging infrastructure to determine availability of one or more charging stations within a predefined radius of the route. The controller is adapted to obtain respective station parameters pertaining to the one or more charging stations. Based on user input, at least one session goal is selected from a predefined set of goals. The controller is adapted to generate a recommended charging profile respectively for one or more stops along the route, based in part on the session goal and the respective station parameters.Type: GrantFiled: March 11, 2022Date of Patent: February 27, 2024Assignee: GM Global Technology Operations LLCInventors: Brian Trimboli, Matthew A. Host system with AC charging inlet and method for identifying an electrical device connected thereto
Patent number: 11548402Abstract: A controller of a host system executes a method for detecting an external AC electrical device. While an AC charging inlet of the host system is electrically connected to the device via different vehicle-to-live (V2L) and jump-charge connections, the controller detects a control pilot voltage and a proximity voltage. When the control pilot voltage is 0V, the controller determines whether entry conditions are satisfied indicative of a desire to offload power from the host system to the device. When the entry conditions are satisfied, the proximity or control pilot voltage are modulated to generate a modulated voltage signal, which the controller compares to an expected voltage indicative of the device. Power is offloaded to the device when the modulated voltage signal matches the expected voltage.Type: GrantFiled: December 15, 2020Date of Patent: January 10, 2023Assignee: GM Global Technology Operations LLCInventors: Douglas S. Patent number: 10652271Abstract: Some embodiments provide a technique for detecting highly-vulnerable domain names and remediating associated problems. The technique can include collecting DNS data representing a requests to the DNS over a period of time and determining a subset of the DNS data representing DNS-based service discovery requests to unregistered domains over the period of time. The technique can also include, for each of the unregistered domains, determining a query ratio and a persistence ratio. The technique can also include ranking the unregistered domains according to a metric that includes the query ratios and the persistence ratios, such that a ranked list of domain names is produced and outputting an initial segment of the ranked list of domain names as the highly-vulnerable domain names. The technique can also include remediating attacks on at least one of the highly-vulnerable domain names.Type: GrantFiled: March 24, 2017Date of Patent: May 12, 2020Assignee: VERISIGN, INC.Inventors: Eric M. Osterweil, Danny R. McPherson, Matthew A. Thomas, Qi Alfred Chen

Patent number: 6348979Abstract: An error detection apparatus and method for use with engravers, such as gravure engravers. An error value E corresponding to the difference between a set of predetermined setup parameters and actual measurement of a portion of an engraved area on the cylinder is determined. The error value E is then used to adjust the engraver to engrave an actual cut or etch in accordance with the set of predetermined setup parameters. Advantageously, an error detection and correction system is suitable for providing a closed-loop system for engraving a cylinder. The apparatus and method may be used during initial setup or during normal operation of the engraver. Other features include an autofocus routine to facilitate the auto-focus procedure. Also, image processing is further enhanced by gap filling, discontinuity removal, and light calibration methods which may be used alone, in combination with each other, or in combination with the automatic focus system and/or automatic shoe system.Type: GrantFiled: May 22, 1998Date of Patent: February 19, 2002Assignee: MDC Max Daetwyler AGInventors: David Flannery, David R. Seitz, Thomas P. Staub, Matthew A. Thomas

Patent number: 5555473Abstract: A cylindrical engraving system selectively able to engrave either in a helical or circumferential format. An encoder scans index markings on the surface of a cylinder being engraved and generates timing pulses for selective application to one or the other of a helical drive unit or a circumferential drive unit incorporated within the system controller, Engraving is performed by an engraving head which is stepped in the axial direction along the workpiece in response to step pulses generated by the selected drive unit. The step pulses may be generated in spaced bursts or at a regular frequency depending upon whether circumferential or helical driving has been selected.Type: GrantFiled: February 21, 1995Date of Patent: September 10, 1996Assignee: Ohio Electronic Engravers, Inc.Inventors: David R. Seitz, Curtis Woods, Matthew A. Thomas
