  • Patent number: 9218697
Abstract: Systems and methods authenticate an object using IR. IR is projected at a first wavelength onto the object and a first image of the object is captured during the projection of the IR. The object is authenticated by processing the first image to detect IR fluorescence from an IR fluorescing material incorporated into the object in response to the projected IR, where presence of the IR fluorescence within the first image indicates authentication of the object.

  • Publication number: 20150365820
Abstract: Systems and methods for a notification triggered device management session are described. A request for a device management session for a mobile station is received at a device management server. In response to determining that the mobile station is not connected to a cellular network, a home subscriber server is signaled to update a user equipment profile for the mobile station to indicate that the mobile station has a pending device management session. Upon connection of the mobile station to a first network, the mobile station is signaled to connect to the device management server for the device management session using a call session control function. The mobile station is connected with the device management server using the first network. The device management session is run using the first network connection between the mobile station and the device management server.

  • Publication number: 20150345287
Abstract: A method for transmitting data from a MWD system at the BHA of a drill string may include transmitting the data in a MWD signal from the MWD system. The MWD signal may be modulated at a position closer to the surface onto a mud pulse modulated signal. The mud pulse modulated signal may be generated by a downhole friction reducing device. The downhole friction reducing device may include a mud motor. The mud motor may create pressure pulses based on its speed of rotation. The downhole friction reducing device may include a modulating valve. The modulating valve may be electromechanically or mechanically operated. The modulated signal may be detected at the surface by a receiver using one or more pressure or flow sensors. The receiver may use one or more harmonics of the modulated signal to receive the data.

  • Publication number: 20150289152
Abstract: Systems and methods for remote diagnostics are disclosed. In some implementations, a request for a device diagnostic session is provided from a mobile device to a diagnostic server. In response to the request, a messaging service message from the diagnostic server may be received at the mobile device. The messaging service message may include an authentication token. Upon receipt of the messaging service message including the authentication token, a diagnostic client resident at the mobile device may be initialized. Upon authenticating the authentication token included in the received messaging service message, a secure connection for the device diagnostic session may be established between the diagnostic server and the initialized diagnostic client. Diagnostic commands may be received at the diagnostic client from the diagnostic server via the established secure connection. The diagnostic commands may cause the diagnostic server to retrieve device diagnostics of the mobile device.

  • Publication number: 20150247400
Abstract: An MWD system with a BHA sensor assembly that can be assembled and tested off-site and then transported to the field and that requires fewer on-site workers to install and operate the system. The BHA sensor assembly can include a sensor for monitoring at least one physical parameter of the BHA and a processor for collecting the data from the sensor, analyzing the data to determine whether a physical condition has been met, and, if so, activating the telemetry system to begin transmitting drilling information to the surface. In some embodiments, a determination that a physical condition has been met can be used to activate or discontinue local logging of data to memory. Data from sensors can also be used to trigger a modification of the types and/or rates of data that are transmitted to the surface and/or logged to memory.

  • Publication number: 20150141140
Abstract: Example apparatus and methods facilitate providing a user-defined channel that presents content from, for example, a virtual video playlist. The playlist may include raw or edited dips of user-generated video content (e.g., video game highlights, smart phone recordings). The clips may be edited with sound, text, graphics, special effects or in other ways and then organized into the playlist. The playlist may be organized to facilitate presenting a collection of clips as a continuous show. For example, a user may produce a playlist of goals scored in their favorite video game. The highlights may be of goals scored by the user, in which case the video may come from the user's device, or of goals scored by other players, in which case the video may come from another users device or playlist. Playback of the playlist may be manipulated with respect to order, frequency, or other parameters.

  • Publication number: 20150101817
Abstract: The method of maintaining drill bit advancement in an underground formation that contains shale, including providing an electrical signal from an insulated gap location in a drill string substantially directly behind the bit in the formation, detecting substantial change in a signal as the bit advances, and changing the direction of drilling of the bit as a function of a signal change, to thereby maintain the direction of bit advancement in the formation. A method is disclosed for detecting the existence and direction of adjacent bed boundaries. A short hop transmitter assembly generates a signal that is detected by an associated receiver assembly. The received signal(s) are tied to the azimuthal orientation of the transmitter or receiver and processed to yield the direction and/or the distance of the bed boundary. This information is transmitted to the surface via surface telemetry for real-time control of the drilling assembly to stay within, or to enter, a pay zone.

  • Patent number: 8991448
Abstract: A covering system includes a tarp made of an elastic membrane and a plurality of tarp fastening hooks. The fastening hooks allow the elastic membrane to be stretched over valuables and affixed to environmental anchors so that creases and puddle-enabling pockets in the membrane are eliminated. The fastening hooks clamp onto the elastic membrane and hook onto the environmental anchors to cause tension in the membrane. The clamping forces of the tarp fasteners are inherently increased in proportion to the tension in the clamped membrane.

  • Publication number: 20150014056
Abstract: A pre-defined custom profile that specifies a potential condition, such as of a drilling rig site, is generated. One or more operational parameters at the drilling rig site are monitored to determine an actual condition of the drilling rig site. A dynamic response is made when it is detected that the actual condition of the drilling rig site matches the potential condition of the drilling rig site, as specified by the pre-defined custom profile. According to one aspect, one or more operations at the drilling rig site are automatically controlled based on the actual condition of the drilling rig site. According to another aspect, a report is automatically generated, the report including data corresponding to the actual condition at the drilling rig site.
