  • Publication number: 20190183696
Abstract: A protective system for a cast saw includes a voltage source and a processor coupled to the voltage source. The processor is configured to apply a voltage to a saw blade of a cast saw. The processor is also configured to receive a voltage reading taken across a conductive layer that is at least partially embedded in a cast. The processor is also configured to determine whether the received voltage reading exceeds a threshold voltage. Responsive to a determination that the received voltage exceeds the threshold voltage, the processor is further configured to activate an alarm to warn a user of the cast saw that the saw blade is in contact with the conductive layer.

  • Publication number: 20190167266
Abstract: Drive assemblies for surgical clamping and cutting instruments, as well as surgical clamping and cutting instruments using these drive assemblies, are disclosed. The drive assemblies may include a drive member, a locking member mounted to the drive member, and a spring. The drive member may be configured to releasably engage at least one of a knife or a shuttle of a surgical clamping and cutting instrument for translating the knife and/or shuttle in a distal direction through a firing stroke. The locking member may be movable from a first position permitting distal translation of the drive member through the firing stroke, and a second position inhibiting distal translation of the drive member through the firing stroke. The spring may be configured to bias the locking member toward the second position.

  • Patent number: 10286714
Abstract: A comic book case includes a base and a cover configured to compress and secure a comic book in place under frictional pressure such that the book cannot easily shift or slip within the case. Prior art cases that included walls surrounding the top, bottom and side edges of a book typically allowed some free movement or slippage of the book between the walls. This movement or slippage could result in damage such as curling or crinkling of the edges of the book if the case were exposed to a physical shock, such as by being dropped. The base includes a raised base platform and the cover includes a depressed cover platform, which extends towards the base platform to create a space within which the book is securely held.

  • Patent number: 10269043
Abstract: A computer-executable method, a computer system and a non-transitory computer-readable medium are provided for enabling download of a promotion application program provided by a promotion and marketing service. The method includes using a computer-executable tool on a first application program to initiate a determination of whether a promotion application program is installed on the mobile computing device. The method includes, upon determining that the promotion application program is not installed on the mobile computing device, using the first application program to indicate an impression of a promotion in association with a representation of the promotion application program. The representation of the promotion application program is configured to enable download of the promotion application program to the mobile computing device.

  • Publication number: 20190114571
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to systems and methods for evaluating workers for executing various types of tasks. As can be appreciated, a worker who is best suited for carrying out a first task requiring a first set of skills may not necessarily be the most suitable for carrying out a second task that requires a different set of skills. Accordingly, a number of workers are evaluated when performing various tasks and the results of the performance evaluations are stored in a database in the form of performance metrics. The performance metrics of each worker and the associated task performed by the worker are linked to each other by using a machine-readable code. The machine-readable code, which can be a stock keeping unit (SKU) code, is used to search the database for retrieving and evaluating the various performance metrics and identifying one or more workers for executing an upcoming task.

  • Patent number: 10225995
Abstract: This disclosure relates to agricultural canopies used primarily to control the amount of light, moisture and heat reaching growing plants within the canopy footprint. More specifically, it relates to mechanisms for pulling a flexible canopy over a support structure and then for removing the canopy to uncover the structure and the plants below. The mechanisms include an arm mounted rotationally on a base. When the arm is rotated in one direction the canopy is pulled over the support structure and when the arm is rotated in the other direction the canopy is pulled off the support structure.

  • Publication number: 20190072938
Abstract: Techniques are described for controlling distributed operations of devices, such as for devices that are each part of or otherwise associated with a mechanical system containing actuators to manipulate a surrounding environment and optionally further containing sensors to obtain information from the surrounding environment, and with such a device controlling the associated system to perform industrial operations. The described techniques may include identifying a group of multiple such devices to perform one or more assigned tasks, such as in a cooperative distributed manner with each device performing part of the assigned tasks, and/or in a competitive manner with some or all devices independently performing at least one assigned task. The performances of the devices may further be evaluated in various manners, and the devices selected to perform one or more tasks may be identified in various manners (including based at least in part on past performance evaluations).

  • Publication number: 20180341264
Abstract: A computer is programmed to receive, from a vehicle control device, data specifying a location of the control device outside a vehicle; receive data specifying a spatial boundary; generate a path avoiding the spatial boundary from a current location of the vehicle to a location within a predetermined distance of the control-device location; and navigate the vehicle along the path.

  • Patent number: 10070354
Abstract: Noise floor degradation detection may be provided. First, an incremental packet loss rate for a secondary radio may be calculated that indicates an impact on packet reception on the secondary radio due to transmissions by a primary radio. The secondary radio and the primary radio may comprise an access point. Next, it may be determined that the incremental packet loss rate is greater than a predetermined value. A configuration of the access point may be changed in response to determining that the incremental packet loss rate is greater than the predetermined value.
