  • Patent number: 9320399
Abstract: An agitator for a surface treating appliance. The agitator comprises an agitator body having an axis, and a bristle strip carried on the agitator body and extending along a central region of the agitator body and an end region of the agitator body. The bristle strip includes a plurality of bristles aligned in a row, and wherein bristles associated with the end region of the agitator extend in a direction that defines an acute angle with the longitudinal axis of the agitator. In this way, the bristles on the ends of the agitator are provided with a outwardly swept configuration that increases the effective swept width of the agitator.

  • Patent number: 9281684
Abstract: An interconnect device is disclosed for detecting whether an vehicle on-board diagnostics (OBD) data port includes a blocking diode or equivalent. that prevents back feeding of power through the OBD data port. If a diode is detected, the interconnect device alerts the user that the power cannot be back fed through the OBD II port connector. In such a condition, an alternate means is used to preserve the data mentioned above. Specifically, an alternative power supply can be connected directly to the battery cables that will be disconnected from the battery, for example, by way of battery clamps. In this way the alternative power supply is used to preserve the data until a new battery is reconnected to the vehicle battery cables. If a diode is not detected by the interconnect device, the interconnect device displays this fact to the user. The interconnect device includes circuitry for detecting and displaying whether a diode is connected in series with a power pin of the OBD II port connector.

  • Patent number: 9200535
Abstract: An aerofoil blade or vane for the turbine of a gas turbine engine is provided. The blade or vane includes an aerofoil portion which, in use, extends radially across a working gas annulus of the engine. A coolant inlet is formed at an end of the aerofoil portion for the entry of a cooling air flow into the portion. A corresponding coolant exhaust is formed at the trailing edge of the aerofoil portion for spent cooling air to flow from the portion. A passage within the aerofoil portion connects the inlet to the exhaust. A fence within the aerofoil portion extends radially and forwardly from a start position at the end of the aerofoil portion adjacent the trailing edge to an end position. The passage forms a loop which extends along one side of the fence, wraps around the end position, and extends along the other side of the fence.

  • Publication number: 20150310273
Abstract: This disclosure provides a static occlusion handling method and system for use with appearance-based video tracking algorithms where static occlusions are present. The method and system assumes that the objects to be tracked move in according to structured motion patterns within a scene, such as vehicles moving along a roadway. A primary concept is to replicate pixels associated with the tracked object from previous frames to current or future frames when the tracked object coincides with a static occlusion, where the predicted motion of the tracked object is a basis for replication of the pixels.

  • Publication number: 20150310312
Abstract: This disclosure provides a video-based method and system for busyness detection and notification. Specifically, according to an exemplary embodiment, multiple overhead image capturing devices are used to acquire video including multiple non-overlapping ROIs (regions of interest) and the video is processed to count the number of people included within the ROIs. A busyness metric is calculated based on the number of people counted and notification of the busyness metric or changes in the busyness metric is communicated to appropriate personnel, e.g., a manager of a retail store.

  • Patent number: 9165194
Abstract: A system and method for automatic classification and detection of a payment gesture are disclosed. The method includes obtaining a video stream from a camera placed above at least one region of interest, the region of interest classifying the payment gesture. A background image is generated from the obtained video stream. Motion is estimated in at least two consecutive frames from the video stream. A representation is created from the background image and the estimated motion occurring within the at least one region of interest. The payment gesture is detected based on the representation.
