  • Publication number: 20200314173
Abstract: A method for load balancing application requests across a multi-cluster container orchestration system includes receiving a load-balancing configuration for a multi-cluster service managing access to a set of destination clusters hosting a software application deployed by a user. The multi-cluster service uses the load-balancing configuration to load balance application level traffic across the set of destination clusters. Each destination cluster includes at least one container executing the software application and a respective geographical region. The method also includes receiving an application level request directed toward the software application hosted across the destination clusters. The application level request is received from a client and includes a host name and a geographical location associated with the client. The method also includes routing the request to one of the clusters based on the geographical location of the request and the respective geographical locations of the clusters.

  • Patent number: 10732651
Abstract: Methods and systems facilitate network communications between a wireless network-connected thermostat and a cloud-based management server in a manner that promotes reduced power usage and extended service life of an energy-storage device of the thermostat, while at the same time accomplishing timely data transfer between the thermostat and the cloud-based management server for suitable and time-appropriate control of an HVAC system. The thermostat further comprises powering circuitry configured to: extract electrical power from one or more HVAC control wires in a manner that does not require a “common” wire; supply electrical power for thermostat operation; recharge the energy-storage device (if needed) using any surplus extracted power; and discharge the energy-storage device to assist in supplying electrical power for thermostat operation during intervals in which the extracted power alone is insufficient for thermostat operation.

  • Publication number: 20200210337
Abstract: A system and a method provide a memory-access technique that effectively parallelizes DRAM operations and coherency operations to reduce memory-access latency. The system may include a memory controller, an interconnect and a processor. The interconnect may be coupled to the memory controller. The processor may be coupled to the memory controller through a first path and a second path in which the first path is through the interconnect and the second path bypasses the interconnect. The processor may be configured to send substantially concurrently a memory access request to the memory controller via the first path and send a page activation request or a hint request to the memory controller via the second path so that the DRAM access operations appear to be masked, or hidden by the coherency operations.

  • Patent number: 10684633
Abstract: A circuit includes a monitoring circuit that monitors a voltage and a switching circuit. Closing the switching circuit causes an external AC load to receive power from an external AC source. The circuit further includes a control circuit that opens the switching circuit for a time interval, where the time interval begins after the voltage is below a lower threshold. The control circuit also ends the time interval after the voltage exceeds an upper threshold, where the time interval is short enough that the operation of the AC load is not affected during the time interval. The circuit also includes a power harvesting circuit that harvests power from the external AC source to raise the voltage during the time interval.

  • Publication number: 20200071967
Abstract: Vehicle management system in a vehicle and method of operating the same. The vehicle includes an operator zone and a passenger zone. The system includes processor-executable instructions to disable a vehicle lock actuator to prevent locking of a vehicle door where unsafe vehicle conditions may be detected. The system is configured to detect that the operator zone is unoccupied and determine that the passenger zone is occupied while the operator zone is unoccupied to identify that the vehicle is in a non-driver occupied mode. The system receives a vehicle lock request signal and, in response to receiving the vehicle lock request signal while the vehicle is in the non-driver occupied mode, disables the vehicle lock actuator to prevent locking of a vehicle door.

  • Patent number: 10540054
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for automated selection of navigation points for navigating through a computer-generated virtual environment such as, for example, a virtual reality (VR) environment. Specifically, an input set of connected navigation points in a virtual environment is automatically pruned to a connected subset thereof, according to one or more selection factors where at least one of the selection factors is whether the subset will continue to be “connected” after pruning a navigation point from the input set. In addition to whether the pruning of a navigation point will allow the remaining navigation points to remain connected, techniques for pruning based on one or more additional selection factors are also disclosed. According to one additional selection factor, navigation point pruning is based on the degree to which coverage of an input set of navigation points would be reduced by pruning any given navigation point from the input set.

  • Patent number: 10534962
Abstract: Techniques are provided for increasing the accuracy of automated classifications produced by a machine learning engine. Specifically, the classification produced by a machine learning engine for one photo-realistic image is adjusted based on the classifications produced by the machine learning engine for other photo-realistic images that correspond to the same portion of a 3D model that has been generated based on the photo-realistic images. Techniques are also provided for using the classifications of the photo-realistic images that were used to create a 3D model to automatically classify portions of the 3D model. The classifications assigned to the various portions of the 3D model in this manner may also be used as a factor for automatically segmenting the 3D model.
