  • Publication number: 20230391144
Abstract: A contactless tire inspection apparatus for tire tread depth measurement using 3D reconstruction includes a driver side (DS) measurement device (MD) and a passenger side (PS) MD. The DS MD includes a DS light source configured to, responsive to receiving a trigger signal (TS), project a first structured illumination (SI) onto a DS tire of a vehicle and at least one DS camera configured to, responsive to receiving the TS, capture DS image(s) of the first SI projected onto the DS tire for 3D reconstruction. The PS MD includes a PS light source configured to, responsive to receiving the TS, project a second SI onto a PS tire of the vehicle and at least one PS camera configured to, responsive to receiving the TS, capture PS image(s) of the second SI projected onto the PS tire for 3D reconstruction when the at least one DS camera captures DS image(s).

  • Publication number: 20080088800
Abstract: A high-resolution image is generated using multiple spatially offset lower-resolution digital micro-mirror device (DMD) panels. Multiple lower-resolution subframe signals for controlling the spatial light modulators are generated from a high-resolution image signal using a resolution reduction and interpolation algorithm. The spatial light modulators under control of the subframe signals are illuminated by a light source and light beams reflected from the spatial light modulators are combined and directed onto a screen for display.

  • Publication number: 20070195257
Abstract: The invention provides an imager panel subassembly for use in an optical projection system. The subassembly includes a reflective imager panel, such an LCoS microdisplay, for spatially modulating an optical beam incident upon a front surface thereof for producing an image. An optically transparent birefringent trim retarder is disposed in front of the front surface of the imager panel for enhancing the image contrast, and for protecting the imager panel from the outside dust. The subassembly further includes a spacer separating the imager panel and the trim retarder for forming an enclosed airspace therebetween, and adjustable coupling means for securely coupling the trim retarder and the imager panel together in a pre-determined relative position independent of the optical projection system, so that to allow rotation of the trim retarder relative to the imager panel while maintaining dust-tight sealing of the enclosed airspace.

  • Publication number: 20050088629
Abstract: An image display system uses a polarizing beam splitter to direct light from a lamp to multiple spatial light modulators. The spatial light modulators (“SLM”) each generate an image portion, which are stitched together on a display screen to obtain a high resolution image. In a particular embodiment, image portions from two conventional SLMs, each controlling about two million pixels, are stitched together to form an image having about four million pixels. In another embodiment, two lamps are used with four SLMs to produce a resultant image having about eight million pixels.
