  • Publication number: 20170199719
Abstract: An audio device can include audio inputs, such as a microphone and an auxiliary input, as well as audio outputs, such as one or more speakers. The audio device can include a memory element for storing pre-recorded audio files, such as songs. The memory element also can be used to allow a user to record his or her own audio. In some implementations, the memory element can include memory slots allocated into different buckets. For example, a first bucket can be used to store built-in songs, a second bucket can be used to store recorded music, and a second bucket can be used to store voice audio recorded by the user. The audio device can output audio saved in the memory element. For example, in some implementations, the audio device can output a pre-recorded song overlaid with vocals recorded by the user.

  • Patent number: 9680807
Abstract: A server establishes a secure session with a client device where a private key used in the handshake when establishing the secure session is stored in a different server. During the handshake procedure, the server receives a premaster secret that has been encrypted using a public key bound with a domain for which the client device is attempting to establish a secure session. The server transmits the encrypted premaster secret to the different server for decryption along with other information necessary to compute a master secret and session keys for the secure session. The different server decrypts the encrypted premaster secret, generates the master secret, and generates session keys that are used in the secure session for encrypting and decrypting communication between the client device and the server and transmits those session keys to that server.

  • Publication number: 20170147590
Abstract: A proxy server receives from a client device a request for a network resource that is hosted at an origin server for a domain. The request is received at the proxy server as a result of a DNS request for the domain resolving to the proxy server. The origin server is one of multiple origin servers that belong to different domains that resolve to the proxy server and are owned by different entities. The proxy server retrieves the requested network resource. The proxy server determines that the requested resource is an HTML page, automatically modifies the HTML page, and transmits the modified HTML page to the client device.

  • Patent number: 9661020
Abstract: A proxy server in a cloud-based proxy service receives a message that indicates that a domain, whose traffic passes through the proxy server, may be under a denial-of-service (DoS) attack. The proxy server enables a rule for the domain that specifies that future requests for resources at that domain are subject to at least initially passing a set of one or more challenges. In response to receiving a request for a resource of that domain from a visitor, the proxy server presents the set of challenges that, if not passed, are an indication that that the visitor is part of the DoS attack. If the set of challenges are passed, the request may be processed. If the set of challenges are not passed, the request may be dropped.

  • Patent number: 9641549
Abstract: Message(s) are received from each one of multiple proxy servers, which are anycasted to the same IP address, that indicate source IP addresses of packets that are received that are directed to that same IP address. These proxy servers receive the packets as result of domain(s) resolving to that same IP address, and a particular one of the proxy servers receives the packets as a result of an anycast protocol implementation selecting that proxy server. Based on these message(s) from each of the proxy servers, a determination of the likelihood of a packet having a particular source IP address being legitimately received at each of the proxy servers is determined. A message is transmitted to each of the proxy servers that indicates which source IP addresses of packets are not likely to be legitimately received at that proxy server.

  • Patent number: 9634994
Abstract: A proxy server receives from a client device a request for a network resource hosted at an origins server for a domain. The request is received at the proxy server as a result of a DNS request for the domain resolving to the proxy server. The origin server is one of multiple origin servers that belong to different domains and resolve to the proxy server and are owned by different entities. The proxy server requests the network resource from the origin server. The proxy server receives a response from the origin server that indicates that the network resource is unavailable. The proxy server transmits a custom error page to the client device that indicates that the requested resource is unavailable.

  • Patent number: 9634993
Abstract: A proxy server receives from a client device a request for a network resource that is hosted at an origin server for a domain. The request is received at the proxy server as a result of a DNS request for the domain resolving to the proxy server. The origin server is one of multiple origin servers that belong to different domains that resolve to the proxy server and are owned by different entities. The proxy server retrieves the requested network resource. The proxy server determines that the requested resource is an HTML page. The proxy server scans the HTML page to locate one or more modification tokens that each indicates content that is subject to being modified. For at least one of the located modification tokens, the proxy server automatically modifies at least a portion of the content of the HTML page that corresponds to that modification token. The proxy server then transmits the modified HTML page to the client device.

The request is received at the proxy server as a result of a DNS request for the domain resolving to the proxy server. The origin server is one of multiple origin servers that belong to different domains that resolve to the proxy server and are owned by different entities. The proxy server transmits the request to the origin server. Responsive to determining that the origin server is offline, the proxy server determines whether the requested resource is available in cache. If it is in cache, the proxy server retrieves the requested resource from the cache and transmits the requested resource to the client device.

  • Patent number: 9628509
Abstract: A cloud-based proxy service identifies a denial-of-service (DoS) attack including determining that there is a potential DoS attack being directed to an IP address of the cloud-based proxy service; and responsive to determining that there are a plurality of domains that resolve to that IP address, identifying the one of the plurality of domains that is the target of the DoS attack. The domain that is under attack is identified by scattering the plurality of domains to resolve to different IP addresses, where a result of the scattering is that each of those domains resolves to a different IP address, and identifying one of those plurality of domains as the target of the DoS attack by determining that there is an abnormally high amount of traffic being directed to the IP address in which that domain resolves.

  • Patent number: 9548966
Abstract: A validating server receives from a client device a first request that does not include a cookie for a validating domain that resolves to the validating sever. The first request is received at the validating server as a result of a proxy server redirecting the client device to the validating domain upon a determination that a visitor belonging to the client device is a potential threat based on an IP (Internet Protocol) address assigned to the client device used for a second request to perform an action on an identified resource hosted on an origin server for an origin domain. The validating server sets a cookie for the client device, determines a set of characteristics associated with the first client device, and transmits the cookie and a block page to the client device that has been customized based on the set of characteristics, the block page indicating that the second request has been blocked.

  • Publication number: 20160371368
Abstract: In an embodiment, search parameters in a series of search queries directed to a target node of a semi-structured database are categorized as frequently recurring parameters. A partial search query template is populated with shortcut information related to the search parameters, and then used to facilitate execution of a new search query that includes the same search parameters. In another embodiment, an index is generated that links search parameters that return intermediate search result values to search result values that are configured to be obtained when a search is conducted on the intermediate search result values. The index can be generated based upon monitoring of actual searches within the semi-structured database, or alternatively based upon an inspection of the semi-structured database itself.

  • Publication number: 20160371391
Abstract: In an embodiment, a server detects a threshold number of search queries for which the same value at a target node for a document in a semi-structured database is returned as a search result. The server caches the value based on the detection. In another embodiment, the server detects a threshold number of search queries that result in values being returned as search results from a target node. The server caches values at the target node based on the detection. In another embodiment, the server records search result heuristics that indicate a degree to which search results are expected from a set of search queries. The server obtains a merge query and establishes an order in which search queries in the merge query are to be executed based on the recorded search result heuristics.

  • Publication number: 20160371339
Abstract: In an embodiment, a server executes a first query in a semi-structured database to determine a first list of nodes that each include at least one node-specific data entry that satisfies the first query. The server initializes a Bloom filter with the first list of nodes. The server filters a list of candidate nodes for a second query based on the Bloom filter. The server executes, in conjunction with a faceted search procedure of a set of documents in the semi-structured database, a second query that uses the filtered list of candidate nodes as a facet to determine a second list of nodes that each includes one or more node-specific data entries from the facet that satisfy the second query.

  • Publication number: 20160371392
Abstract: In an embodiment, a server indexes, in a label-path indexed database, a first data entry at a first target node with a given node identifier in accordance with a label-path indexing protocol. After determining that a number of paths from the root node to non-root nodes that share the given node identifier exceeds a threshold, the server indexes a second data entry at a second target node with the given node identifier in a flat-indexed database in accordance with a flat indexing protocol. In an alternative embodiment, the server indexes the first data entry redundantly in both the label-path indexed database and the flat-indexed database while the path number does not exceed the threshold. When the path number exceeds the threshold, the second data entry is indexed in the flat-indexed database only.
