  • Patent number: 8634819
Abstract: A wireless communication device has first processing circuitry and second processing circuitry that are separate from one another. The wireless communication device transfers first wireless communications to a wireless network using the first processing circuitry. The wireless communication device identifies a reboot condition for the first processing circuitry and responsively provides a geographic location of the wireless communication device to the second processing circuitry and displays a user interface for communications using the second processing circuitry. The wireless communication device reboots the first processing circuitry while the user interface for communications is displayed. The wireless communication device transfers second wireless communications to the wireless network using the second processing circuitry while rebooting the first processing circuitry.

  • Patent number: 8588394
Abstract: A method, medium, and content switch device are provided for enhanced directory assistance. A GPS-enabled wireless phone generates directory assistance requests that are monitored and processed by the content switch and a directory assistance platform to generate results that satisfy the directory assistance requests. The content switch intelligently monitors the directory assistance sessions and dynamically invokes value-adding services that delivers rich content in addition to the results to the GPS-enable wireless phone or other registered client devices based on the directory assistance requests or results. The value-adding services may include pushing driving directions to the GPS-enable wireless phone, providing training video content corresponding to vendors associated with the directory assistance requests, or connecting the GPS-enabled wireless phone to a live video-conferencing session.

  • Patent number: 8340083
Abstract: Embodiments disclosed herein include systems, methods, and software that reduce processing burdens on host soft switches. A method of operating a communication network comprises receiving a plurality of update messages from a plurality of border controllers that interface communications between a first packet network and a second packet network. The update messages are processed to determine operational states of the plurality of border controllers. Responsive to receiving a query from a soft switch in the first packet network for a session between the first and second packet networks, the query is processed to select a first border controller for the session from the plurality of border controllers based on the operational states of the plurality of border controllers. A response is transferred to the soft switch indicating the first border controller.

  • Patent number: 8126439
Abstract: Multimedia services are provided to a subscriber within a domain of a communication network, wherein the subscriber utilizes one or more predetermined access terminals to access the multimedia services according to a network presence configuration of the subscriber. Each access terminal has respective multimedia capabilities, and the domain includes an application server for accessing the multimedia services. A user profile is established for the subscriber relating respective presence identifiers to a respective user service definition, wherein each user service definition specifies a set of the predetermined access terminals and respective multimedia services to be available for a respective network presence configuration. A current presence identifier of the subscriber is registered. The application server accesses the user profile to determine a user service definition corresponding to the current presence identifier.
