  • Publication number: 20170279943
Abstract: An enclosure and a method for forming an enclosure are disclosed. The enclosure may be formed from metal, such as aluminum, and further include a non-metal portion allowing for transmission and receipt of electromagnetic waves. The non-metal portion may be interlocked to the enclosure and in particular, to a region within the enclosure including a first material having a relatively high strength and stiffness compared to the non-metal portion. Interlocking means may include forming dovetail cuts into the enclosure to receive the non-metal portion, a hole or cavity drilled into the enclosure which includes internal threads, and a rod inserted into the first material to provide a tension to the non-metal portion. • Patent number: 9759988
Abstract: An electronic device having a securing member for a camera module is disclosed. The securing member may include several flexible spring elements extending around the camera module to maintain the position of the camera module during an assembly process of the electronic device. The securing member and the housing may be made from an electrically conductive material or materials. In this manner, the securing member may further provide the camera module with an electrical ground to prevent excessive electric charge within the camera module. In some embodiments, an alignment member is positioned on the housing and aligns the camera module and/or securing member with an aperture of the housing.

  • Patent number: 9753490
Abstract: An enclosure having an indicium (e.g., logo) and a method for securing an indicium to an enclosure is disclosed. The enclosure includes an aperture extending through an interior portion and an exterior portion of the enclosure. The aperture may include concentric portions. For example, the aperture may include a first opening formed on an interior portion and a second opening smaller than the first opening formed on the exterior portion. The indicium may include a flange member such that the indicium may extend through the first opening but not the second opening. Also, in some embodiments, a plate is adhesively secured to the indicium and the enclosure; however, the indicium is not directly adhesively secured to the enclosure. This may prevent adhesives from protruding from an interface region between the indicium and the enclosure.

  • Publication number: 20170249048
Abstract: The systems and techniques described herein generally relate to an electronic device having a touch-sensitive surface or region that is configured to receive force-based user input and dynamically adjust a force threshold used to recognize the force-based user input. In particular, the device may include one or more force sensors that are configured to detect a touch that exceeds a dynamically adjustable threshold. In some embodiments, the threshold is dynamically adjusted in response to a detected or estimated stability condition. By dynamically adjusting the threshold, the device may be better adapted or optimized for use with a particular support accessory or support configuration. In some cases, multiple sub-regions may be defined over the touch-sensitive surface, each sub-region having a different force threshold.

  • Publication number: 20170109565
Abstract: An apparatus comprises a fingerprint sensor having a set of capacitive elements configured for capacitively coupling to a user fingerprint. The fingerprint sensor may be disposed under a control button or display element of an electronic device, for example one or more of a control button and a display component. A responsive element is responsive to proximity of the user fingerprint, for example one or both of a first circuit responsive to motion of the control button, and a second circuit responsive to a coupling between the fingerprint and a surface of the display element. The fingerprint sensor is disposed closer to the fingerprint than the responsive element. The control button or display component may include an anisotropic dielectric material, for example sapphire.

  • Patent number: 9583821
Abstract: Antenna related features of a mobile phone or computing device are disclosed. In one embodiment, wireless control and signal are fed separately through difference types of flexes to optimize performance and cost. In one embodiment, active switching and processing of differing conductive trace lengths are performed on an antenna flex so that antenna performance can be optimized for multiple wireless technologies covering a wide range of wavelengths. In one embodiment, a cantilever arm affixed to a ground screw can provide double grounding in a region with no available screw points due to high z constraint. In one embodiment, a device can provide double feed for antenna through a single screw. In one embodiment, a short pin can be configured to support thinner metal. In one embodiment, a “vibrator bracket/LDS short pin” structure can be used to share a common screw point.
