  • Patent number: 11628610
Abstract: The continuity of a functional layer of a web (32, 60, 78) is assessed by forwarding the web, detecting (42, 63) the presence of the functional layer and a discontinuity and/or a thin region in the functional layer, and generating a signal in response to the discontinuity and/or thin region. The functional layer comprises a detectable component (360) in a thermoplastic composition. The detecting is carried out by a machine vision system capable of detecting the detectable component (360) in the functional layer. The detectable component (360) can be active or passive. Also included are systems for carrying out the process.

  • Publication number: 20190176443
Abstract: A multilayer film is provided having barrier protection for high acid foods. The film generally comprises an inorganic core layer comprising a substrate layer upon which an inorganic barrier layer is disposed and at least one outer barrier layer. The outer barrier layer has a core layer that may consist of a barrier layer surrounded by two outer sealant layers. The composite maintains excellent barrier properties at higher temperatures and humidities in order to maintain shelf stable package after it is aseptically or hot filled. The barrier properties of the composite is not significantly affected upon flexing of the film.

  • Publication number: 20160016824
Abstract: A grease interceptor includes a container having outer walls and a bottom connected to the outer walls, an inlet opening defined in one of the outer walls of the container, an outlet opening defined in an opposing outer wall of the container, an inlet baffle positioned adjacent the inlet opening, the inlet baffle comprising a protruding upper portion and a straight lower portion, a deflector positioned adjacent a bottom portion of the inlet baffle, a mid-wall baffle positioned at a substantially centered position along the longitudinal length of the container, and an exit baffle positioned adjacent the outlet opening. A method of removing grease from a wastewater stream through volume displacement is also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20060286321
Abstract: Heat shrinkable films having at least one layer comprising a blend of a first ethylene/alpha-olefin copolymer having a Mw/Mn of from about 1 to 3.0 and a second ethylene/alpha-olefin copolymer having an Mw/Mn greater than 3.0. The first ethylene/alpha-olefin copolymer has a density of from about 0.91 g/cc to about 0.925 g/cc, a first melting point of from about 85° C. to about 110° C., and a second melting point of from about 111° C. to about 125° C. The second ethylene/alpha-olefin copolymer has a density of from about 0.90 to about 0.91 g/cc. The first ethylene/alpha-olefin copolymer makes up from about 5 to about 40 weight percent of the blend. The second ethylene/alpha-olefin makes up from about 60 to about 95 weight percent of the blend. The blend makes up from about 40 to 100 weight percent of the total weight of the film. The film has a total free shrink at 85° C. of at least 60 percent and a peak load impact strength of at least 135 Newtons per mil.
