  • Patent number: 11939078
Abstract: Fuel used as a coolant in an aircraft can be thermally conditioned for active thermal management of the airframe and engine. The fuel can be thermally conditioned using the residual cooling capacity of a power and thermal module (PTM), providing flexibility of thermal system design, or via a compact engine-mounted turbo cooler, to maximize system efficiency. The fuel can be stored in a thermal reserve tank to provide a missionized heat sink capable serviceable for periodic high heat flux equipment. The cooling and provision of cooled fuel to aircraft components can be intelligently controlled to provide efficient cooling and effectively unlimited ground hold times.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 13, 2020
Date of Patent: March 26, 2024
    Assignee: NORTHROP GRUMMAN SYSTEMS CORPORATION

  • Publication number: 20060284000
Abstract: A theoretical based winding process and control for a surface winding machine that can provide the capability to wind products with a desired wind profile, uniform sheet compression, improved compressibility, winding stability, and ease of operator control adjustment, is disclosed herein. The theoretical based surface winding process utilizes the principle of winding a log with a desired wind profile by controlling the surface speed of at least one roller of the surface winding machine.

  • Publication number: 20050166670
Abstract: A method of dynamically determining a modulus of elasticity of a moving web material using web tensions and web velocities. The tension and velocity of a moving web are determined in a first span. The tension and velocity of the moving web are also determined for the moving web in a second span. A value analogous to the modulus of elasticity of the moving web may then be determined according to the tension and velocity values for the moving web in the two spans.

  • Publication number: 20050167460
Abstract: A method of dynamically controlling the tension of a moving web material. A web material is transported with an apparatus. A modulus-of-elasticity-analog value is determined for the web material. The modulus-of-elasticity-analog value is used to adjust an instantaneous gain of the web control system. The instantaneous gain is used in the control calculation of the control system. The control calculation is used to control the speed of a web handling drive. Controlling the speed of at least one appropriate web handling drive controls the tension of the web.

  • Patent number: 5887772
Abstract: A dog harness having two straps down opposite sides of the dog is modified to add reachably attachable and detachable supply carrying means by use of hook and loop connections between the straps and a pair of sheets mounting pouches for carrying supplies. An additional sheet mounting additional pouches extends over the back of the dog behind the harness and is detachable attached by hooks and loops between the rear strap and a margin of the additional sheet where the rear strap overlaps said rear margin.
