    Abstract: Automatically identifying a user of an open wireless access point in a communications network may be provided. A wireless signal may be transmitted to detect the status of a wireless network connected to a wireless access point. If the status of the wireless network connection is open, then a connection may be automatically established with the wireless access point over the open wireless network connection. The open wireless connection may then be used to automatically send data over the communications network to determine the identity of a user of the wireless access point.
