Patent number: 12078450Abstract: A holster for a handgun assembly includes a holster body having a chamber for receiving the handgun assembly. A tensioner is mounted on the holster body in a position to be engaged by the handgun assembly in the chamber, and is operable to apply a resilient biasing force to the handgun assembly in the chamber. The tensioner includes tensioner body that is engaged and deformed by the handgun assembly, and a spring for resisting and controlling deformation of the tensioner body. The tensioner has a first end portion mounted on the holster body for only rotational movement on the holster body, and a second end portion mounted on the holster body for both sliding and rotational movement on the holster body. A tension spring maintains tension on the tensioner body.Type: GrantFiled: February 2, 2023Date of Patent: September 3, 2024Assignee: Safariland, LLCInventors: Matthew E. McKendrick, Robert DeRenzo

Publication number: 20240019227Abstract: A holster for a handgun having a top portion including a slide that can be attracted by a magnet. The holster includes a holster body that does not lock a handgun therein, having side walls and a top wall together at least partially defining a chamber in the holster for receiving the handgun in a position with the handgun slide adjacent to the top wall of the holster. A handgun locking device on the holster body top wall is engageable with the handgun slide to secure the handgun in a locked position in the holster body. At least one magnet on the holster body is located in a position for magnetically attracting a ferrous portion of the handgun thereby to urge the handgun slide into engagement with the locking device to secure the handgun in a locked position in the holster.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 7, 2023Publication date: January 18, 2024Inventor: Matthew E. McKendrick

Publication number: 20230266099Abstract: A trigger guard stabilizer for a holster provides trigger guard side-to-side support. Because the trigger guard stabilizer is spring-loaded, and can be depressed into a receiving pocket, it automatically moves downward out of the way if a taller light passes over the stabilizer top during a holstering action. Once the light has passed over the stabilizer, the stabilizer springs back into a position with portions that extend on either side of the trigger guard. This helps to hold the trigger guard centered laterally in the holster, thus impeding unwanted access to the trigger.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 22, 2023Publication date: August 24, 2023Inventors: Matthew E. McKendrick, James H. Radney, Robert DeRenzo

Patent number: 11105584Abstract: A holster for a handgun having a trigger guard includes a holster body defining a chamber for receiving a portion of the handgun. The holster body has an entranceway enabling insertion of the gun into the holster and removal of the handgun from the holster chamber. The holster includes a blocking device separate from the holster body that helps to block movement of the handgun trigger guard relative to the holster body when the handgun is in the chamber. The blocking device is supported on the holster body for movement relative to the holster body between an open position and a blocking position. The blocking device has a tail portion that projects from the bottom wall in a direction away from the top wall when the blocking member is in the open position. The blocking device moves from the open position to the blocking position in response to insertion of a handgun through the entranceway into the chamber.Type: GrantFiled: January 28, 2020Date of Patent: August 31, 2021Assignee: Safariland, LLCInventors: William H. Patent number: 10883795Abstract: A holster support assembly for use by a user wearing a belt is adjustable for both drop and cant. The assembly includes a belt support that engages and is supported by the user's belt, the belt support defining a plurality of drop positions spaced apart along the track to enable the user to set the drop position of the holster. The assembly also includes a holster mount supported on the belt support for sliding movement relative to the belt support, the holster mount configured for supporting a holster. The holster mount has a first condition in which the holster mount is engaged with the belt support thereby blocking rotation of the holster mount relative to the belt support, and is selectively movable into a second condition in which the holster mount is rotatable relative to the belt support about an axis to enable the user to set the cant position of the holster relative to the belt support.Type: GrantFiled: January 18, 2018Date of Patent: January 5, 2021Assignee: Safariland, LLCInventors: William H. Rogers, Matthew E. McKendrick, Dylan Vaccaro

Publication number: 20170205189Abstract: A handgun for insertion in a holster has grip and a top edge and a trigger guard. A control element is removably mounted on the handgun trigger guard. The control element includes a control arm that extends from the trigger guard in a direction away from the top edge of the handgun and that has an outer end portion farthest from the top edge of the handgun. The dimensions of an associated holster are selected so that when the handgun is holstered the outer end portion of the control arm engages a wall of the holster.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 17, 2017Publication date: July 20, 2017Inventors: William H. Patent number: 9494384Abstract: A holster blank and holster for a handgun formed from a unitary molded body portion having two side holster portions joined to opposite edges of an elongate narrow spine intermediate portion by parallel living hinges. The side holster portions have outer edges brought together by pivoting the side holster portions towards each other via the living hinges so as to form the holster. The body portion includes interfacing elongate male and female locking portions which engage and lock the outer edges together. A method of producing the holster includes molding the body portion and pivoting the sides via the living hinges 90 degrees and providing a lock to interconnect the side portions adjacent the trigger guard of a handgun.Type: GrantFiled: January 24, 2014Date of Patent: November 15, 2016Assignee: Rogers Holster Co., LLCInventors: William H. Patent number: 9261320Abstract: Magazine block device for firearm dry fire practice which allows a user to practice proper firearm handling skills without expending ammunition, including recocking and actuating the firearm slide without pressing the slide lock release. In an aspect, a magazine block device is provided having a bullet-shaped body, two upper ridges forming a longitudinal channel through which the firearm breach face loading tab may pass without dislodging the magazine block device, and an offset lower ridge. The lower ridge is configured to evenly force a magazine follower down a sufficient distance to prevent actuation of the firearm slide lock. This allows dry fire practice of pulling the slide. Several other features include ridges to assist a user to remove and load the block device in and out of a magazine, as well as a pocket to mechanically remove same.Type: GrantFiled: July 18, 2014Date of Patent: February 16, 2016Assignee: Rogers Holster Co., LLCInventors: David L. Campbell, William H. Rogers, Matthew E. McKendrick

Publication number: 20150323285Abstract: Pivotable mount device attaches a holster to a belt plate and includes a belt plate interface, a holster interface, a slidable release mechanism, retainers, and a pivotable pivot disc. The pivotable mount device is operated by applying a force to a release actuator portion of the slidable release mechanism, thereby unlocking the holster interface from the belt plate interface. Once unlocked, the holster interface may freely pivot relative to the belt place interface in one embodiment and is limited to ninety degree (90°) pivoting in another embodiment.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 26, 2014Publication date: November 12, 2015Inventors: Matthew E. McKendrick, William H. Rogers

Patent number: 8950099Abstract: A collapsible stock assembly for a firearm includes a stock body defining a buffer tube passage for slidably accommodating a firearm buffer tube therein. An adjustment slit communicates with the buffer tube passage along a forward portion thereof. A first adjustment mechanism canied by the stock body includes a buffer tube engagement element that can extend into the buffer tube passage and is selectively positionable by a first operating lever. A second operating mechanism includes a second operating lever that is operable to selectively compress the adjustment slit. Disengaging the first adjustment mechanism automatically disengages the second adjustment mechanism. Excessive force on the stock in several embodiments automatically disengages both adjustment mechanisms and minimizes damage to stock assembly and/or buffer tube.Type: GrantFiled: August 26, 2011Date of Patent: February 10, 2015Assignee: Rogers Holster Co., LLCInventors: William H.
