    Abstract: A redemption-type arcade game apparatus with a game token return. A token receiving mechanism on the game apparatus receives a game token or coin having a monetary value from a player. A game having a finite duration is started on the game apparatus in response to receiving the token. A desired goal can be achieved by a player during the game, such as guiding a playing piece into one or more apertures on a playing surface, or having the playing piece fall into a collector for a progressive bonus award. If the player achieves the desired goal during the duration of the game, an award dispenser dispenses a nonmonetary award to the player. When the desired goal is not achieved by the player during the duration of the game, a token having the same monetary value as the inserted token is returned to the player. The game apparatus also includes progressive features which provide an award to the player based on a progressive score if the player achieves a progressive goal.

The playing piece is preferably guided into target apertures by manipulating a handle to vary the angle of the playing surface. A variation of the game includes an award dispenser, which dispenses an award based upon the game score. Another variation includes a progressive bonus apparatus which receives score contributions from at least one individual game unit.

    Abstract: An arcade game including an inclined playing surface and a coin directing mechanism. A coin hopper forces multiple coins through the coin directing mechanism and onto the playing surface for each activation of a button by the player. The player can direct the multiple coins in a desired direction down the playing surface using the directing mechanism. The coins roll toward one or more targets on the playing surface, and a game score is adjusted based on the targets that receive the coins. Indicators for the targets can highlight specific targets and goals during game play. A progressive bonus score can also be added to the game score when a progressive goal is achieved by the player. After the game is over, a tilting mechanism tilts the playing surface to clear the playing surface of coins that have not rolled into apertures and are resting on the playing surface.

    Abstract: An arcade game apparatus of the present invention includes a display face having indicia provided thereon and multiple pointers rotatable in opposite directions about a single axis on the display face. Control mechanisms allow a player to start and stop the rotation of the pointers. A game score is calculated based on the indicia that the pointers are pointing to after they have stopped rotating. The game score is calculated in a described embodiment by summing numeral indicia pointed to by the pointers. An award dispenser dispenses an award based upon the game score. Multiple arcade game apparatus of the present invention can also be connected to a progressive bonus apparatus that accumulates a progressive score contributed to by each individual game apparatus. A player of an individual game apparatus may win an award based on the progressive score by achieving a progressive goal on the individual game apparatus.

Prize objects which are positioned on the surface of the turntable are moved by a pivoting arm member positioned above the turntable. An improved tip of the arm member is engaged with the surface of the turntable and is used to engage an object and push the object into a collection pocket. The collection pocket detects the presence of the object and provides the object to the player. An object dispenser which is positioned in the central aperture of the turntable is used for dispensing additional objects onto the surface of the turntable as required. A wheel mechanism coupled to the turntable near the edge of the turntable causes the turntable to rotate.

A target field receives the directed playing piece, and the sensor determines the identity and a final position of the playing piece at rest. A scoring mechanism provides a game score based on the identity and final resting position of the playing piece. Preferably, the playing piece, such as a ring or coin, engages one of multiple individual targets, such as bottles or receptacles. A return mechanism provides the playing piece to the player, and an award dispenser dispenses an award to a player based on the game score. The sensor includes a visual sensor and digital processor for validating and determining a final position of the moving playing piece by detecting visible light. The digital processor examines an image of the target field to determine and validate the identity of the playing piece, the trajectory of the playing piece, and the final position of the playing piece to determine the game score.

    Abstract: An arcade game simulating a baseball game. A player hits a ball suspended in front of him or her at a known initial position towards a detector assembly, such as an x-y grid of light beams. The initial velocity of the ball is accurately determined by calculating the speed of the ball by measuring the time it took the ball to travel between its initial and final positions, and by calculating the direction of the ball from the known initial and final positions of the ball. Audio and visual feedback may be provided to the player of the game unit based upon the results of the hit ball and based upon a baseball game environment. Awards can also be dispensed to the player by the game unit based upon a score accumulated during the game.

    Abstract: A target shooting apparatus utilizes a plurality of light beam emitting guns or rifles to shoot at a plurality of targets, the individual light beam guns being identified by frequency encoding the light beam emitted by each rifle. The first rifle to "hit" a target deactivates the target and is credited with a score. Light and sound effects are generated when a target is "hit" to simulate reality. The number of rifles and targets is limited only by the physical size of the apparatus that would be practical to accommodate the players.
