  • Publication number: 20180348343
Abstract: Examples disclosed herein relate to an Intelligent Metamaterial (“iMTM”) radar for target identification. The iMTM radar has an iMTM antenna module to radiate a transmission signal with an iMTM antenna structure and generate radar data capturing a surrounding environment. An iMTM interface module detects and identifies a target in the surrounding environment from the radar data and controls the iMTM antenna module.

  • Publication number: 20170270146
Abstract: A hierarchy is a multi-level linked structure of nodes, wherein the hierarchy represents data relating to a set of one or more items to be processed. Where there are multiple input hierarchies, it may improve the efficiency of the processing of the items to merge the input hierarchies to form a merged hierarchy. The hierarchies are merged by identifying two or more sub-hierarchies within the input hierarchies which are to be merged, and determining one or more nodes of the merged hierarchy which reference nodes of the identified sub-hierarchies. The determined nodes of the merged hierarchy are stored and indications of the references between the determined nodes of the merged hierarchy and the referenced nodes of the identified sub-hierarchies are also stored. In this way, the merged hierarchy is formed for use in processing the items.

  • Publication number: 20130205780
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide methods and apparatus for using a controllable heat source to generate electricity. One embodiment provides an energy generation module comprising a controllable heat source, one or more jackets of thermoelectric devices, and heat conducting fluids surrounding or otherwise thermally coupled to the jackets. The energy generation module can be used to convert heat from a heat source such as a gas combustion chamber into electricity. Embodiments of the invention are particularly useful for generating electricity when electrical power is not existent, cost prohibitive or otherwise in short supply. The generated electricity can be used by the user, stored in an electrical storage battery or sold to a local or remote power grid.

  • Publication number: 20080034917
Abstract: An automatic balancing device for counterbalancing an out-of-balance mass includes a plurality of counterbalancing masses, each of which is movable in a circular path about the axis so as to generate a balancing force. The balancing forces combine to produce a resultant balancing force which varies between minimum and maximum values. At a first speed of rotation of the body about the axis, the movement of at least one of the counterbalancing masses is restrained so that a substantially constant, non-zero resultant balancing force is produced, the resultant balancing force being freely movable about the axis. At a second speed of rotation of the body about the axis, the counterbalancing masses are free to adopt a position in which the out-of-balance mass is counterbalanced. The device allows at least partial counterbalancing of the out-of-balance mass at speeds below the critical speed of the system in which it is used.
