  • Publication number: 20140065041
Abstract: Methods and systems include an operation to interpret a face-plugging index and/or a reduction in an expected oxidation efficiency of an oxidation catalyst disposed in an internal combustion engine aftertreatment system, and in response to the face-plugging index or the reduction oxidation efficiency reaching a threshold value, an operation to provide a catalyst element reversal command.

  • Patent number: 8491845
Abstract: According to one embodiment, described herein is an exhaust gas after-treatment system that is coupleable in exhaust gas stream receiving communication with an internal combustion engine. The exhaust gas after-treatment system includes a low temperature SCR catalyst configured to reduce NOx in exhaust gas having a temperature below a temperature threshold. The system also includes a normal-to-high temperature SCR catalyst configured to reduce NOx in exhaust gas having a temperature above the temperature threshold.

  • Publication number: 20060254426
Abstract: A filter, system and method is provided for filtering nanoparticles in a hot gas, namely particles <about 1 micron in a gas >about 200° C. and further particularly >about 450° C. including diesel exhaust. The filter includes filter media material composed of fibrous filter media having a plurality of fibers and granular filter media having a plurality of granules extending from the surfaces of the fibers. The filter is characterized by a permeability >about 3×10?12 m2 and an inertial resistance coefficient <about 1×106 m?1. The filter captures particles in the Most Penetrating Region (MPR). A filter system includes a nanoparticle filter in series with a diesel exhaust treatment element.

  • Publication number: 20060070357
Abstract: An exhaust aftertreatment filter has a pre-stressed layer bonded to the filter body at the outer periphery and compressively axially pre-stressed in an opposite axial direction to separational axial tensile stress to counteract the latter during regenerative heating, to minimize separational fracture and cracking.
