Patent number: 6124723Abstract: A probe holder for a wafer probe station is comprised of a pair of over-and-under rigid extensions, one of which receives the probe shank and the other of which is connected to the probe to make a Kelvin connection. The two coaxial extensions are supported by a vertical tube which contains a pair of coaxial cables connected to triaxial cables outside of the probe station enclosure.Type: GrantFiled: August 31, 1998Date of Patent: September 26, 2000Assignee: Wentworth Laboratories, Inc.Inventor: Matthew J. Costello

Patent number: 5959461Abstract: An adapter for holding a silicon wafer in an inverted position of a probe station to allow backside emission testing is described. The wafer is positioned in a carrier having an opening therethrough for backside emission testing while the wafer is energized and probed beneath the carrier. A special probe card holder is provided with a self-leveling feature by means of a leveling frame on the probe card holder cooperating with the wafer carrier.Type: GrantFiled: July 14, 1997Date of Patent: September 28, 1999Assignee: Wentworth Laboratories, Inc.Inventors: John Brown, Matthew J. Costello, Luciano P. DosSantos, Robin Ruck
-
Patent number: 4211493Abstract: The disclosure is of an impact printer assembly for use in facsimile machines or the like comprising a housing which contains a plurality of parallel slidable plates, each of which carries an electrical winding in the form of a coil. Each plate and its coil is disposed between a pair of magnets with the coil in operative relation with the magnets. The magnets are positioned so that a north pole is adjacent to one surface of a plate and a south pole is adjacent to the opposite surface of the plate. Thus, each magnet is in operative relation with two plates except for the first and last magnets of the assembly. The printer assembly includes a plurality of parallel printing plates, each of which has a leading portion which provides the desired impact and a second portion which is in engagement with a plate and is driven thereby when signal current flows through the coil on that plate.Type: GrantFiled: August 30, 1978Date of Patent: July 8, 1980Assignee: Burroughs CorporationInventors: Matthew J. Costello, Norman K. Gallagher

Patent number: 4149033Abstract: The disclosure is of facsimile apparatus having support means for holding a telephone handset during operation of the machine in receiving or transmitting a message. This means comprises a seat of rubber on which the handset rests, and, in addition, a ring of smooth material on which the handset slides as it is brought into engagement with the support means and as it is slipped into its operating position with respect to the support means. The apparatus also includes a novel, spring support arrangement for the handset support.Type: GrantFiled: November 14, 1977Date of Patent: April 10, 1979Assignee: Graphic Sciences, Inc.Inventors: Matthew J. Costello, Albert M. De Luca, Thomas K. Saunders, James F. McGuire
-
Patent number: 4148076Abstract: A facsimile machine includes a cylinder for supporting a paper which is to receive a message or which carries a message to be transmitted by telephone lines to a remote location. The machine includes a read-write assembly which is mounted for movement back and forth across the paper-carrying cylinder. The read-write assembly includes a light assembly for directing light onto a printed document, a stylus for printing electrostatic charge on a blank sheet of paper, and a relatively simple mechanical apparatus for switching the machine from the read status to the write status.Type: GrantFiled: January 24, 1978Date of Patent: April 3, 1979Assignee: Graphic Sciences, Inc.Inventors: Matthew J. Costello, Thomas K. Saunders, Albert M. DeLuca
-
Patent number: 4134136Abstract: The disclosure is of a facsimile machine having a carrier for a sheet of paper, the carrier comprising a cylinder having a longitudinal band secured thereto by springs so that the band is normally pulled downwardly onto the surface of the cylinder. A sheet of paper is rolled about the cylinder, with one end of the sheet of paper held securely between the band and the cylinder. The cylinder is mounted on a machine frame which includes a cover plate which is pivotally mounted over the paper-holding cylinder. The cover is provided with a finger which serves no purpose when the cover is closed, but, when the cover is opened, the finger engages a bracket which itself engages the longitudinal band to lift it from the surface of the cylinder to permit a sheet of paper to be inserted or removed.Type: GrantFiled: April 20, 1977Date of Patent: January 9, 1979Assignee: Burroughs CorporationInventors: Matthew J. Costello, Thomas K. Saunders, Albert M. DeLuca
-
Patent number: 3992623Abstract: A folded retro-reflective optical scanner using common major optics for both scanning and reading and achieving a long scan line (8.25 inches) with a short throw distance and little bow. Astigmatic effects in the reading beam are minimized by utilizing only the center portion of the return beam for reading.Type: GrantFiled: March 14, 1975Date of Patent: November 16, 1976Assignee: Graphic Sciences, Inc.Inventors: Richard W. Rhyins, Ralph Rand, Matthew J. Costello, Robert E. Krallinger
-
Patent number: 3973264Abstract: A facsimile receiver reproduces documents at remote locations automatically while unattended. The receiver includes a telephone coupler for receiving data over a telephone line, a scan converter, a single-stylus scanner, and automatic paper feed, extraction and stacking mechanisms so that a large number of documents may be reproduced and stacked in sequence in the absence of an operator.Type: GrantFiled: February 21, 1975Date of Patent: August 3, 1976Assignee: Graphic Sciences, Inc.Inventors: Matthew J. Costello, Donald T. Dolan, Andre T. Debaudringhien, Antoon M. Hurkmans, Kenneth R. Jasinski, Edward G. Keplinger
-
Patent number: 3965292Abstract: Paper feeding and handling apparatus, especially for a facsimile receiver, including a cradle for supporting a roll of paper and for raising and lowering it to permit handling of the roll. Roll and guide means lead the paper from the supply roll to a writing station which also includes sheet-cutting means. A sheet-handling tray is disposed to receive the written and cut sheets, and various mechanical means are provided to feed and support the cut sheets.Type: GrantFiled: February 21, 1975Date of Patent: June 22, 1976Assignee: Graphic Sciences, Inc.Inventors: Matthew J.
