  • Publication number: 20180206944
Abstract: A dental implant has a body and a plurality of distinct roots that extend outwardly from the main portion that generally define a coronal-apical axis. A porous tantalum metal portion is disposed at the body for engaging bone and the plurality of distinct roots are configured to resist a torsional force that is applied to the dental implant and around the coronal-apical axis.

  • Patent number: 9744007
Abstract: An expendable bone implant has a first member with a coronal end portion configured for supporting a prosthesis. A second member is at least partially porous, engages the first member, and is configured to expand outwardly upon a longitudinal force being applied to at least one of the first and second members. This anchors the implant in bone before mastication forces are applied to the implant.

  • Patent number: 9433506
Abstract: A prosthetic mold for forming a prosthesis is disclosed. The prosthesis can include a bone mating surface, an articulating surface, and an intermedullary post. The prosthetic mold can include a first portion, a second portion engageable with the first portion, and an injection portion. The first portion can be configured to form the articulating surface. The second portion can be configured to form the bone mating surface and define an intermedullary post cavity. Engagement between the first and second portions can define a mold cavity. The injection port can be axially aligned, and in communication, with the intermedullary post cavity. The injection port can engage an injection assembly. In one embodiment, the prosthetic mold is configured to form a tibial prosthesis. In another embodiment, the prosthetic mold is configured to form a femoral prosthesis.

  • Publication number: 20130325017
Abstract: Orthopedic procedures can involve tools or other instruments that assist a surgeon, such as a surgical cutting guide. The surgical cutting guide can include a body including a first cutting guide surface, included or coupled to the body. The first cutting guide surface can include a material that is resorbable so as to be capable of being absorbed into tissue of a human subject of a portion of the material upon intentional or unintentional separation of the portion of the material from the first cutting guide surface. The method can include obtaining or providing a cutting instrument and the cutting guide. The cutting instrument can be guided against a cutting guide surface of the cutting instrument.
