  • Publication number: 20170195119
Abstract: A plurality of devices, having common access to a first key under which a set of data objects used by the plurality of devices are encrypted, is caused to replace the first key with a second key by at least causing a device of the plurality of devices to encrypt a subset of the set of data objects that are not selected for electronic shredding, allow access to a data object of the subset regardless of whether the data object is encrypted using the first key or the second key. At a time after the data object becomes accessible by using the second key, each of the plurality of devices is verified have common access to the second key, and the plurality of devices is caused to lose access to the first key.

  • Patent number: 9699219
Abstract: A first service submits a request to a second service on behalf of a customer of a service provider. The request may have been triggered by a request of the customer to the first service. To process the request, the second service evaluates one or more policies to determine whether fulfillment of the request is allowed by policy associated with the customer. The one or more policies may state one or more conditions on one or more services that played a role in submission of the request. If determined that the policy allows fulfillment of the request, the second service fulfills the request.

  • Publication number: 20170171851
Abstract: A wireless communication device (alternatively, device, WDEV, etc.) includes at least one processing circuitry configured to support communications with other WDEV(s) and to generate and process signals for such communications. In some examples, the device includes a communication interface and a processing circuitry, among other possible circuitries, components, elements, etc. to support communications with other WDEV(s) and to generate and process signals for such communications. A WDEV determines capabilities of other WDEVs and generates a first orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) frame that includes resource unit (RU) allocation specified for the other WDEVs and media access controller (MAC) padding (e.g., selected based on capability of at least one of the other WDEVs. The WDEV then transmits the first OFDMA frame to the other WDEVs to be processed by them and then receives a second OFDMA frame from the other WDEVs based on the RU allocation.

  • Publication number: 20170161112
Abstract: A data processing apparatus comprises a plurality of data storage elements, each configured to store data. Mask storage circuitry stores a mask and processing circuitry executes one or more instructions. A data saver is configured, in response to a transactional start instruction, to select a subset of the data storage elements and to save a backup of the subset of the data storage elements. Mask control circuitry then updates the mask to indicate the subset of the data storage elements selected by the data saver. Finally, a monitor detects write or write attempts made to one of the data storage elements not indicated by the mask. Accordingly, a user need not save all data storage elements (e.g. registers) in a system or specify precisely which data storage elements must be saved in order to perform a transaction.

  • Publication number: 20170161095
Abstract: A data processing apparatus and method of data processing are provided, which relate to the operation of a processor which maintains a push call stack in dependence on the data processing instructions executed. The processor is configured to operate in a transactional execution mode when the data processing instructions seek access to a stored data item which is shared with a further processor. When the processor enters its transactional execution mode it stores a copy of the current stack depth indication and thereafter, when operating in its transactional execution mode, further modifications to the call stack are compared to the copy of the stack depth indication stored. If the relative stacking position of the required modification is in a positive stack growth direction with respect to the copy stored, the modification to the call stack is labelled as non-speculative.

  • Patent number: 9671409
Abstract: A nanoscale calcinated silicate film fabricated on a gold substrate for highly effective, matrix-free laser desorption ionization mass spectrometry (LDI-MS) analysis of biomolecules. The calcinated film is prepared by a layer-by-layer (LbL) deposition/calcination process wherein the thickness of the silicate layer and its surface properties are precisely controlled. The film exhibits outstanding efficiency in LDI-MS with extremely low background noise in the low-mass region, allowing for effective analysis of low mass weight samples and detection of large biomolecules including amino acids, peptides and proteins. Additional advantages for the calcinated film include ease of preparation and modification, high reproducibility, low cost and excellent reusability. Experimental parameters that influence LDI on calcinated films have been systemically investigated. Presence of citric acid in the sample significantly enhances LDI performance by facilitating protonation of the analyte and reducing fragmentation.

  • Publication number: 20170155602
Abstract: Multi-media content for inclusion into an SMS (Short Message Service), MMS (Multi-media Message Service), IM (Instant Message) or other message type can be searched, pre-searches, fetched and pre-fetched based upon predictive- and rules-based searching techniques. A system can predict or infer an in-process message, for example, based upon a portion of the inputted text message. Thereafter, in real- or near real-time, content related to the topic of conversation can be retrieved from a local store, remote stores (e.g., servers) or cloud-based sources. The retrieved content can be incorporated into the SMS, MMS, or IM message as appropriate or desired thereby enhancing the messaging experience.
