  • Patent number: 10061000
Abstract: In an MRI magnet structure for use with a radiation beam source as an assembly, magnet coils of varying diameters are concentrically arranged along a magnetic axis, the magnetic coils not sharing a common inner or outer radius. Mechanical support is provided to retain the magnetic coils in necessary relative fixed positions. The patient bore tube is provided through the assembly and defines a patient bore axis in an essentially horizontal direction such that the magnetic axis is inclined to the patient bore axis by an angle of 30°-60°. At least one radiation therapy beam access cavity provides access in a straight line for a radiation therapy beam to reach a treatment region within the magnet structure.

  • Patent number: 9953764
Abstract: In a solenoid magnet assembly, and a method for manufacture thereof, the magnet assembly includes a number of concentrically aligned coils, each including a winding impregnated with a resin. Each coil is mechanically restrained so as to hold the coils in fixed relative positions relative to each other when forming the magnet assembly. The mechanical restraint can be formed by annular support sections bonded to the respective coils, lugs bonded to the respective coils, or by lugs that are at least partially embedded in a crust formed on a radially outer surface of the respective windings.

  • Patent number: 9711267
Abstract: An arrangement for supporting a cylindrical superconducting coil structure has recesses in an axial end-surface of the coil structure, and support brackets that individually horizontally protrude into the recesses, such that a vertical loading on the support brackets bears the weight of the coil structure. Opposite ends of the support brackets engage a support member, which supports the support brackets engaged therein, thereby also bearing the weight of the coil structure.

  • Publication number: 20090211080
Abstract: In a method of producing a shim, for each of several layers, a first layer of powdered magnetic material is deposited, and selectively bonding together in regions of the layer where presence of the magnetic material is required. Unbonded powdered magnetic material is removed from the layer, to leave gaps. A powdered magnetically inert material is deposited into the gaps and bonded together in regions of the layer where presence of the magnetic material is not required.
