Publication number: 20230356310Abstract: A jigsaw including a housing, a handle extending transverse from the housing in a direction of a handle axis, a battery selectively coupled to the handle, a foot plate coupled to the housing and configured to contact a workpiece, and a drive assembly powered by the battery. The drive assembly includes a motor, a fan, a transmission driven by the motor, and an output spindle driven by the transmission and coupled to a cutting blade. The jigsaw also includes a frame supported within the housing which supports the motor and the transmission. The frame includes a shroud surrounding at least a portion of the fan and an air chute in fluid communication with the shroud that together direct an airflow produced by the fan toward a cutting area adjacent the cutting blade. The jigsaw also includes a baffle that is selectively moveable into the air chute to redirect the airflow away from the cutting blade.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 26, 2023Publication date: November 9, 2023Inventors: John M. Jubeck, Andrew J. Weber, Jacob A. Edwards, Ryan D. Moorleghen, Matthew Leidel, Wu Fan

Publication number: 20230288199Abstract: A tool, such as a digital level, having multiple methods of indicating the orientation of the level. One embodiment of the level includes two or more accelerometers arranged in complimenting orientations, such as 90 degrees with respect to each other. The complimenting orientation allows for more precise measurements from less expensive accelerometers compared to a level with a single more expensive accelerometer. A power supply module, and an associated control module in charge of the power supply, selectively provides power to the accelerometers and displays based in part on user input, movement of the level, and the disposition of the level.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 18, 2023Publication date: September 14, 2023Inventors: Matthew Leidel, Gareth J. Mueckl, Eric Mackey, Gary Lee McMurray, Taylor Wayne Crenshaw

Publication number: 20230221114Abstract: A level with a clip and removable end cap is provided. The end cap includes an outer member and locking member received within a clip that is affixed inside an end of the level. The locking member is inserted into the outer member pushing a moveable portion of the outer member into an engagement, such as a shearing engagement, that holds the end cap assembly in place relative to the level body. The clip includes a projection that interfaces with an aperture in the level frame.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 16, 2023Publication date: July 13, 2023Inventors: Matthew Leidel, Eric Mackey

Publication number: 20220341198Abstract: A concrete vibrator includes a housing, a strap, an electric motor, a flexible shaft, a vibrator head, and battery pack. The strap is removably coupled to the housing. The electric motor s coupled to the housing. The flexible shaft has a first end coupled to the motor and an opposite, second end. The vibrator head is coupled to the second end of the shaft. The vibrator head is configured to receive torque from the motor and the shaft to cause the vibrator head to vibrate. The battery pack is coupled to a battery receptacle defined on the housing. The battery pack is configured to provide electric current to the electric motor to drive the motor and the shaft. The concrete vibrator is operable in a messenger bag configuration in which the strap is used to carry the concrete vibrator with the housing in a horizontal orientation.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 11, 2022Publication date: October 27, 2022Inventors: Patrick D. Gallagher, Travis J. Dubnicka, Mitchell Carlson, Paul W. Eiche, Eric C. Onsager, Wesley S. Bassindale, Matthew Leidel, Erick Moreno Flores
