Publication number: 20230226359Abstract: Methods and systems for providing electrical stimulation to a patient's spinal cord using electrode leads implanted in the patient's spinal column are described. Embodiments involve cycling between durations during which stimulation is actively applied and durations when no stimulation is applied. The stimulation can be configured such that pain relief washes in during the active stimulation duration and continues for some part of the duration when no stimulation is being applied. Eventually the pain relief may wash out. The washout time may be modeled, so that stimulation may be resumed before the pain relief washes out. The stimulation may be below the patient's perception threshold.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 12, 2023Publication date: July 20, 2023Inventors: Luca A. Annecchino, Que Doan, Rosana Esteller, Matthew McDonald

Patent number: 10546027Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments for performing data search queries for descriptive semantics extracted from item reviews. Search queries that resulted in a selection of a browse node of an item taxonomy are identified and various items associated with the browse node are determined. Customer reviews for the various items are used to phrases used in the customer reviews that also appear in the search queries. The phrases may be ranked based at least in part on a polarity metric that describes a subjectivity, sentiment, and/or coverage of the phrase. Phrases with a rank exceeding a predefined threshold may be made available for use by a search component of a network site.Type: GrantFiled: June 9, 2015Date of Patent: January 28, 2020Assignee: Amazon Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Gabriel Parent, Debprakash Patnaik, Amanda Dee Bottorff, Matthew McDonald Furlong

Publication number: 20130179782Abstract: In one embodiment, the apparatus for embedding links includes a reproducing unit configured to receive a data stream and display at least one object of the data stream on a display screen of a device. The apparatus further includes a processing unit configured to activate a link associated with a displayed object based on linking information. The linking information includes activation information and destination information. The activation information indicates a period of time when the link is activated. The destination information includes at least one of address information that points to additional information on a remote server and launch information that specifies an application to be launched on the device. The processing unit is configured to display the additional information on the display screen or launch the application upon user selection of the activated link.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 9, 2012Publication date: July 11, 2013Applicant: ALCATEL-LUCENT CANADA INC.Inventors: Hubert Newman, Matthew Mcdonald, Patti Vanbruggen

Patent number: 8353945Abstract: Delivery catheters and systems are adapted for delivering multiple discreet prostheses in body lumens. An exemplary delivery catheter comprises a sheath, a pusher for moving the prostheses relative to the sheath, and a valve member for selectively retaining the prostheses in the sheath. For balloon expandable stents, an elongated shaft and an expandable member are slidably disposed in the sheath, and the prostheses are positionable on the expandable member for deployment in the body lumen. The valve member allows a selected number of prostheses to be deployed from the sheath while retaining other prostheses within the sheath.Type: GrantFiled: April 13, 2007Date of Patent: January 15, 2013Assignee: J.W. Medical System Ltd.Inventors: Bernard H. Andreas, Matthew McDonald, Jay S. Daulton, Andrew Leopold, Philip Leopold, Matt Maulding, Andrew Black

Publication number: 20070265637Abstract: Apparatus and methods for delivering stents or stent segments to body lumens include one or more tubular prostheses carried at the distal end of a catheter shaft, a sheath slidably disposed over the prostheses, and a guidewire tube extending from within the sheath to the exterior of the sheath through an exit port in a sidewall thereof. A guidewire extends slidably through the guidewire tube. The sheath can be moved relative to the catheter shaft and the guidewire tube to expose the prostheses for deployment. Mechanisms are described for measuring the distance that the sheath is moved relative to the catheter shaft and/or the guidewire tube, or for counting the number of stents exposed and/or deployed by operation of the device. These mechanisms include optical counting mechanisms, inductive, resistive, and/or magnetic resonating counters, electrical contact counters, and mechanical counters.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 13, 2007Publication date: November 15, 2007Applicant: Xtent, Inc.Inventors: Bernard Andreas, Matthew McDonald, Jay Daulton, Chris Kilgus, Andrew Leopold, Philip Leopold, Matt Maulding
