  • Publication number: 20240113105
Abstract: Techniques are provided herein to form semiconductor devices that include gate cuts with different widths (e.g., at least a 1.5× difference in width) but substantially the same height (e.g., less than 5 nm difference in height). A given gate structure extending over one or more semiconductor regions may be interrupted with any number of gate cuts that each extend through an entire thickness of the gate structure. According to some embodiments, gate cuts of a similar first width are formed via a first etching process while gate cuts of a similar second width that is greater than the first width are formed via a second etching process that is different from the first etching process. Using different etch processes for gate cuts of different widths maintains a similar height for the gate cuts of different widths.

  • Patent number: 9358042
Abstract: Lead extraction is the removal of one or more leads from inside the heart utilizing a lead removal catheter having a tubular sheath that is placed in the blood vessel, either subclavian or femoral. The sheath of the lead removal catheter may accidentally tear or perforate the blood vessel as it is advanced over the lead toward the heart. Such an occurrence must be dealt with quickly to prevent harm to the patient or subject. An expandable member, such as a balloon, attached to the exterior of the sheath of a lead removal catheter can be deployed temporarily adjacent the perforation in the vessel wall. Inflation of the balloon not only stops (or substantially stops) the bleeding, but, upon inflation, the balloon may include one or more channels that allow blood to continue to flow through the channel(s) until the blood vessel perforation can be repaired.

  • Patent number: 9056703
Abstract: A container, comprising: a body; and, a closure; wherein the closure has a lid hinged to a ring mounted on the body, the lid moveable from an open position to a closed position; wherein the lid has a tab hinged thereto for: inserting into and engaging a slot formed in the ring as the lid is moved to the closed position from the open position to thereby lock the lid in the closed position; or, receiving and engaging a pin head of a pin mounted on the ring in a hole formed in the tab to thereby hold the lid in the closed position, the pin configured to detach from the ring when the tab and lid are returned to the opened position.

  • Publication number: 20070162662
Abstract: A single Ethernet network adapter having both 10 Mbps and 100 Mbps networking connections for dual network protocol modes is disclosed in one embodiment. The network adapter converts both 100 Mbps (100BASE-FX) and 10 Mbps (10BASE-FL) network protocols to a single common BASE-TX protocol. The network adapter can receive either of the two network protocol connections over a networking cable and has the ability to operate a printing device from either protocol. The network adapter senses whether 100 or 10 Mbps jacks are connected during operation and dynamically modifies conversion operations based thereon.

  • Publication number: 20060071623
Abstract: An improved variable speed fan controller for use in devices such as laser printers. The controller automatically adjusts its output signal to fans such that a fan quickly settles into an appropriate operating speed, even if the fan has been newly installed into the equipment. The controller can store values in non-volatile memory, if desired, to keep track of recent changes in the fan's operating parameters and corresponding control signal values. The controller is able to control relatively inexpensive fans that don't necessarily operate at a predictable fan rotating speed under repeatable conditions and control signals, by controlling the fan to an initial or predetermined rotating speed; if the fan isn't running within a suitable range of rotational speeds, then determining whether a fine or coarse adjustment should be made to the fan's rotational speed. The controller makes appropriate adjustments until the fan's rotational speed is within acceptable operating tolerances.
