  • Patent number: 5205269
Abstract: A toggle link compound bow includes an elongate riser with limbs pivotally mounted at the ends thereof. The free ends of the limbs are adapted to be connected by a bowstring. A toggle link assembly is connected to an energy storage device and is also coupled to the bow limbs so that as a bowstring connecting the free ends of the limbs is moved to a drawn position, the limbs rotate about their pivot connections and the toggle link assembly moves to cause energy to be stored in the energy storage device. In the illustrated embodiment, the toggle link assembly is connected through separate connecting rods to each of the bow limbs. This allows the energy storage device to be located as desired with respect to the riser to adjust the balance of the bow. The extent of movement of the toggle link assembly in response to movement of the bowstring and limbs is preferably adjustable to easily adjust the draw length of the bow.

  • Patent number: 4756295
Abstract: A compound bow using a toggle link assembly to provide improved arrow speed, greater accuracy and improved ease of tuning and use. The bow basically includes first and second spaced bow limbs having a bowstring extending between their outer ends and having their other ends attached through power links to the opposite ends of a main riser. An adjustable connection between the limbs causes them to move in unison. A power canister is secured to the riser adjacent to one of the limb attachments. A toggle link assembly is connected between a power storage compression spring in the canister, and a link on the adjacent limb. As the bowstring is drawn with an arrow in the conventional manner, the toggle link assembly causes energy to be stored in the canister, such as by compressing the spring. When the bowstring is released, the stored energy imparts acceleration to the arrow through the toggle link assembly, limbs and bowstring.

  • Patent number: 3931954
Abstract: An improved petcock for controlling the flow of a liquid from a container. The petcock includes a housing comprising an inlet and outlet passage joined at their inner ends by a frusto-conic valve chamber opening external of the housing through a circular passageway. A valve member shapped to conform to the walls defining the valve chamber and circular passageway and positioned therein so as to provide sliding contact therewith when the valve member is selectively rotated. The valve member includes a bore through its base portion for passing liquid when aligned with the inlet and outlet passage and restricting fluid flow when misaligned. Sealing means is provided for sealing the housing to the tank, between a portion of the valve member and the valve chamber and between the circular portion of the valve member and an outer housing cover. Locking means is provided to selectively lock the valve member in either an "on" or "off" selected position.
