Patent number: 11123515Abstract: An infant calming/sleep-aid/SIDS detection device is provided that includes a main moving platform that moves in a variable manner with accompanying variable sound generation, the sound and motion adapted to calm a fussy baby, induce sleep, and maintain sleep under normal conditions. The device may also have a sensor for detection of pauses in breathing and/or detection of resultant biological changes related to breathing pauses and respond with appropriate stimuli to arouse the baby and allow breathing to recommence.Type: GrantFiled: January 14, 2020Date of Patent: September 21, 2021Assignee: HB Innovations, Inc.Inventors: Harvey Neil Karp, Matthew R. Berlin, Jesse V. Gray, Bill Walter Washabaugh, Deb Kumar Roy

Patent number: 10827851Abstract: An infant calming/sleep-aid device includes a main moving platform that moves in a reciprocating manner and an actuator that drives the reciprocating movement of the main moving platform. The moving head platform is linked to the main moving platform and at least one of a motion sensing device and a sound sensing device are either at or proximate to a moving head platform that is pivotally linked to the main moving platform. A logic circuit links at least one of the motion and sound sensing devices of the infant calming/sleep aid-device to the main moving platform whereby signals detected modulate movement of the main moving platform. A sound generating device is linked to the logic circuit.Type: GrantFiled: February 23, 2016Date of Patent: November 10, 2020Assignee: HB Innovations, Inc.Inventors: Harvey Neil Karp, Matthew R. Berlin, Jesse V. Gray, Bill Walter Washabaugh, Deb Kumar Roy

Publication number: 20180229372Abstract: A socio-emotive-cognitive architecture for a social robot that includes at least two of an attention system that determines at least one of the subject on which and the direction to which the robot focuses at least one of its resources in real-time; an embodied speech system that facilitates intent-based variation of utterances combined with multi-segment body movement; a motivation system that adjusts at least one of the degree of interaction and a mode of interaction for engaging a human user; and an emotion system that partially determines how the attention system, the embodied speech system, and the motivation system perform for any given interaction with a human.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 7, 2018Publication date: August 16, 2018Inventors: Cynthia BREAZEAL, Fardad FARIDI, Sigurdur Orn ADALGEIRSSON, Samuel Lee SPAULDING, Andrew Paul Burt STOUT, Thomas James DONAHUE, Matthew R. Patent number: 9944412Abstract: A spacecraft system and method includes a platform with a dock and an umbilical payout device. A robot is connected to an umbilical paid out by the umbilical payout device and is repeatedly deployable from the dock. The robot includes one or more imagers, an inertial measurement unit, and a plurality of thrusters. A command module receives image data from the one or more robot imagers and orientation data from the inertial measurement unit. An object recognition module is configured to recognize one or more objects from the received image data. The command module determines the robot's orientation with respect to an object and issues thruster control commands to control movement of the robot based on the robot's orientation. The combination of the space platform and robot on umbilical line can be used for towing another object to different orbital location, inspection including self-inspection of the robot carrying platform and for robotic servicing.Type: GrantFiled: October 3, 2014Date of Patent: April 17, 2018Assignee: Busek Co., Inc.Inventors: James J. Szabo, Vladimir Hruby, Thomas R. Roy, Craig DeLuccia, Jay Andrews, W. Dan Williams, Matthew R. Berlin, Jesse V. Gray

Publication number: 20170043118Abstract: A sleep-aid device is provided that includes a main moving platform that moves in a variable manner with accompanying variable sound generation, the sound and motion under the control of a control system and adapted to calm a fussy baby, induce sleep, and maintain sleep under normal conditions. The device may also include a sleep sack for an infant, which is removably attachable to the sleep-aid device and comprises a crib attachment mechanism in data communication with the control system.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 27, 2016Publication date: February 16, 2017Inventors: Harvey Neil Karp, Matthew R.
