  • Patent number: 7063042
Abstract: A continuous gear hinge has leaves provided with meshing gear segments and a cap that extends over and behind the gear segments for holding the segments together while allowing one leaf to pivot relative to the other leaf. Each leaf has a cutout which interrupts its gear segment. The cutouts receive a conductor assembly including pivot members which likewise have meshing gear segments and an electrical conductor attached to the two pivot members and extended through the cap where it is obscured and rendered inaccessible by the cap itself and by the meshing gear segments of the pivot members. The ends of the gear segments for the leaves, at the cutouts, are spaced from the ends of the gear segments on the pivot members to provide pockets, and these pockets receive bearing blocks which prevent longitudinal displacement of one leaf relative to the other leaf.
