  • Patent number: 11062180
Abstract: Methods and systems for training machine vision models (MVMs) with “noisy” training datasets are described. A noisy set of images is received, where labels for some of the images are “noisy” and/or incorrect. A progressively-sequenced learning curriculum is designed for the noisy dataset, where the images that are easiest to learn machine-vision knowledge from are sequenced near the beginning of the curriculum and images that are harder to learn machine-vision knowledge from are sequenced later in the curriculum. An MVM is trained via providing the sequenced curriculum to a supervised learning method, so that the MVM learns from the easiest examples first and the harder training examples later, i.e., the MVM progressively accumulates knowledge from simplest to most complex. To sequence the curriculum, the training images are embedded in a feature space and the “complexity” of each image is determined via density distributions and clusters in the feature space.

  • Patent number: 8484014
Abstract: A method and system for identifying documents relevant to a query that specifies a part of speech is provided. A retrieval system receives from a user an input query that includes a word and a part of speech. Upon receiving an input query that includes a word and a part of speech, the retrieval system identifies documents with a sentence that includes that word collocated with a word that is used as that part of speech. The retrieval system displays to the user an indication of the identified documents.

  • Patent number: 8191004
Abstract: A user interface display for software has a user satisfaction portion displayed on each page. The user satisfaction portion includes a user selectable element which allows a user to provide a user satisfaction score (or level) with a single mouse click. In response to receiving the user satisfaction level, the context of the software which the user is using is recorded, and the user satisfaction level is correlated to that context. The captured data can be provided to application designers and developers directly or via computed metrics.

  • Patent number: 8146010
Abstract: A method and system for combining tabs of a tabbed document interface (“TDI”) is provided. A combinable TDI system allows tabs of a TDI to be combined to form a single tab of the TDI. To combine tabs, the combinable TDI system generates a combined tab name from the tab names of the tabs to be combined and combined tab content from the content of the tabs to be combined. If the width of the content is greater than what can be currently displayed in the window, the combinable TDI system may add a scroll bar to the TDI so that the user can scroll and make visible portions of the content that were previously not visible. The combinable TDI system then displays the combined tab and removes the tabs that have been combined. The combinable TDI system may also allow a user to split a combined tab into separate tabs.

  • Patent number: 8086591
Abstract: The claimed subject matter provides systems and/or techniques that effectuate combining domain-tuned search systems. The system can include mechanisms that obtain queries, written descriptions, or illustrative web-pages regarding a particular area of interest, and generate a definition related to the area of interest. The definition contains a list of paths with associated weights employed to identify an pre-established first domain-tuned search system related to the area of interest. The first domain-tuned search system thereafter can be combined with a second domain-tuned search system related to another area of interest and presented to a user for utilization in re-ranking generic search results to be specific to the first and second domains of interest if combined, or to only the first domain if weights for the second domain are logically subtracted.

  • Publication number: 20110290882
Abstract: One or more techniques and/or systems are disclosed for detecting a quick response (QR) code. An area of an image comprising a QR code is localized by combining pixel dynamic scale (DS), black-cell ratio (BR), and edge intensity sum (EIS) criteria determination to identify the QR code. A pattern for the QR code is detected, comprising determining if a position detection pattern (PDP) is located in respective grid areas of a first grid that comprises the QR code, and identifying an alignment pattern (AP), if present. To identify the AP, an AP region is estimated using the PDPs, and a center area of the AP is found by examining respective areas of a second grid comprising the estimated AP region.

  • Publication number: 20100208997
Abstract: Described is an image centric advertisement platform and technology in which input images are matched to advertisements based on actual visible content (e.g., corresponding to features) within the image. Advertisers upload and bid on advertiser-provided images that correspond to advertisements. When an input image is received, such as a result of user interaction with web content or transmission of the image by a user, (e.g., via MMS), the image is matched to an advertiser images, such as via feature-based image matching. An index based upon the features may be used for efficiently locating the advertisement or advertisements. Also described is a tool for advertisers to use in creating a new scene based upon an uploaded image, or for adding the uploaded image to an existing scene.
