  • Publication number: 20110272190
Abstract: An overhead transmission line support structure includes a base segment and a main segment extending upwardly from the base segment. The overhead transmission line structure further includes a hinge operatively connecting the base segment with the main segment such that the hinge provides deflection capacity parallel to overhead transmission lines supported by the overhead transmission line support structure and such that with sufficient longitudinal loading on the overhead transmission line support structure, the main segment rotates about the hinge. The overhead transmission line support structure may include a post-tensioning system extending along the main segment and/or at least one fuse plate operatively connected between the base segment and the main segment and configured to deform upon the sufficient longitudinal loading on the overhead transmission line support structure.

  • Patent number: 7832178
Abstract: A column includes a foundation, a plurality of column segments mounted to the foundation and extending upwardly, and a cap mounted to at least one of the plurality of column segments. A yield plate connects adjacent column segments to one another. An elastic strip connects to an exterior surface of at least two of the plurality of column segments and is adapted to permit deformation between the plurality of column segments and also return the plurality of column segments to their original orientation. A banding strip is connected at a junction between adjacent column segments and is adapted to limit the movement of the adjacent column segments at the junction.

  • Publication number: 20060260844
Abstract: The present invention provides a rig capable of both coiled tubing and conventional drilling. The rig comprises a mast unit having a drilling mast and a catwalk. The mast unit is adapted for rotary drilling and casing operations. The rig further comprises a drill floor unit adapted to house a drilling cabin and hold a drilling BOP stack while in transport. The rig additionally comprises a coiled tubing unit that is controllable from the drilling cabin.

  • Publication number: 20050189679
Abstract: The invention is a method of packaging an electronic tag. The method includes heating the electronic tag to remove contaminants from an internal volume. The internal volume is filled with a potting material and is hermetically sealed within an outer shell. The invention is a method of positioning an electronic tag in a tubular member. The method includes positioning an electronic tag in a slot formed in an inner wall of the tubular member. The slot is filled with a potting material that adhesively bonds the electronic tag to the slot. The invention is an electronic tag apparatus. The apparatus comprises a slot formed at a selected azimuthal location in an inner wall of a tubular member. An electronic tag is disposed in the slot. A potting material is disposed in the slot, and the potting material forms a barrier between the electronic tag and the inner wall of the tubular member and adhesively bonds the electronic tag to the slot.
