  • Publication number: 20240076907
Abstract: A center slide assembly for a multi-point exit device. Upper and lower spool assemblies may be displaced from first positions to second positions along an inner region of a center slide. The displacement of the spool assemblies may displace upper and lower pull cables so as to retract latch mechanisms from extended positions to retracted positions. A first latching pin may be displaced, along with the displacement of the upper spool assembly, along an abutment surface of a tilting link so as to pivotally displace the tilting link from an unlocked position to a locked position. Displacement of the lower spool assembly may displace a second latching pin to a position wherein the second latching pin may be received and retained within a jog of the tilting link when the tilting link is in the locked position, which may thereby retain the associated latch mechanism in the retracted position.

  • Publication number: 20240026708
Abstract: An example system includes a deadbolt assembly including a housing, a traveler positioned in the housing, and a bolt including a ramp arm engaged with the traveler. The housing may include a first deadlocking component, and the traveler may include a second deadlocking component. The bolt is movable between a distal extended position and a proximal retracted position. When the bolt is pushed in the distal direction by an external force, the ramp arm urges the traveler in a lateral direction, and the first and second deadlocking components engage, deadlocking the bolt.

  • Publication number: 20220333409
Abstract: A latch mechanism having a latch apparatus that is pivotally displaced about a latch axis and a cam device is that pivotally displaced along a transverse cam axis. The cam device is configured to operably engage the latch apparatus so as to at least assist in securing the latch apparatus in a locked position. When the latch apparatus is to be displaced to an unlocked position, the cam device may be pivoted about the transverse cam axis to a position in which the cam device does not impede with the pivotal displacement of the latch apparatus. The latch apparatus may also be configured to prevent the pivotal displacement of the cam device when the latch apparatus is in the unlocked position. According to other embodiments, the latch apparatus may be pivotally displaced about a transverse latch axis by the displacement of a latch link.

  • Patent number: 11359422
Abstract: Latch mechanisms adapted to prevent unauthorized displacement of a latch bolt from an extended, locked position to a retracted, unlocked position. The latch mechanisms prevent the failure of a latch bolt of one latch mechanism to return to an extended lock position from interfering with the ability of a latch bolt of an inter-related latch mechanism from being able to return to an extended, locked position. Further embodiments provide a mounting bracket mounted to a door to allow the associated latch mechanism to be indirectly secured to the door. Additionally, the mounting bracket may have a plurality of mounting orifices that allow the mounting bracket to be used with a wide range of latch mechanisms, as well as provide adjustable attachment of the latch mechanism to the mounting bracket.

  • Publication number: 20190352937
Abstract: An exemplary exit device includes a pushbar assembly, a remote latching assembly, and a coordination mechanism. The pushbar assembly includes a latch control assembly, and the coordination mechanism biases the latch control assembly toward its actuated state. The remote latching assembly includes first and second latch mechanisms, and the latch control assembly is operable to actuate the latch mechanisms. Each of the latch mechanisms at least selectively urges the latch control assembly toward its deactuated state such that the remote latching assembly exerts a variable deactuating force on the latch control assembly. The coordination mechanism selectively retains the latch control assembly in its actuated state, thereby selectively retaining at least one of the latch mechanisms in a corresponding actuated state. When the deactuating force exceeds a threshold force value, the latch control assembly and the latch mechanisms return to the deactuated states thereof.

  • Publication number: 20190128018
Abstract: An exemplary exit device includes a remote latch mechanism and a transmission assembly operably coupled with the remote latch mechanism. The exit device further includes a pushbar assembly including a drive assembly and a latch control assembly operably coupled with the drive assembly such that the drive assembly is operable to actuate the latch control assembly. A self-adjusting coupling assembly operably connects the transmission assembly with the latch control assembly. The self-adjusting coupling assembly includes a lift finger movably mounted to a movable component of the latch control assembly, and a spring urging the lift finger into contact with a transmission of the transmission assembly. A first fastener selectively secures the first lift finger to the first movable component.

  • Patent number: 10190334
Abstract: An adjustable length cable system that can be used in association with transmission of an axial pulling force. The cable system, which can be concealed within and/or behind a structure such as, for example, within an interior region of an entryway device, can accommodate adjustments in the axial lengths of a core wire and a conduit system of the cable system. The core wire can extend through, as well as beyond, the conduit system, and be connected to end fittings and/or connectors that can be used to transmit a pulling force to and/or from one or more components. In some embodiments, the conduit system can include an inner conduit telescopically coupled to an outer conduit such that the axial length of the conduit system is adjustable. Further, the relative axial positions of the inner and outer conduits may be retained by activation of a conduit locking device.

  • Publication number: 20180340353
Abstract: In one form, a multipoint locking assembly included a first latch device, a second latch device, and a mortise assembly coupled to the first and second latch devices. The mortise assembly may comprise a first transmission coupled to the first latch device via a first flexible member, a second transmission coupled to the second latch device via a second flexible member, and an actuation assembly operable to actuate the first and second transmissions. At least one of the transmissions comprises a slack removal device operable to remove slack in the flexible member to which it is coupled, thereby ensuring proper transmission of pulling forces between the transmission and the latch device.
