  • Publication number: 20240019303
Abstract: The apparatus is for use with a surface and includes a light source, a body and a light production apparatus. The light source includes a plurality of elements for generating light. The body: has a planar base for placement in use on the surface, the base being orientated perpendicular to the receiving axis; defines a sampling aperture communicating with the base and through which the receiving axis passes; encompasses the elements; and is adapted, in combination with the light source and when the sampling aperture is blocked to ambient light, to shield the sensor from ambient light. The light production apparatus is for converting the light of the elements through internal reflection, absorption and filtration into light collimated to impinge upon the base, at the intersection of the base and the receiving axis, at a predetermined angle to the receiving axis.

  • Patent number: 11783810
Abstract: Illustrative embodiments provide a method and system for communicating air traffic control information. An audio signal comprising voice activity is received. Air traffic control information in the voice activity is identified using an artificial intelligence algorithm. A text transcript of the air traffic control information is generated and displayed on a confirmation display. Voice activity in the audio signal may be detected by identifying portions of the audio signal that comprise speech based on a comparison between the power spectrum of the audio signal and the power spectrum of noise and forming speech segments comprising the portions of the audio signal that comprise speech.

  • Patent number: 10488261
Abstract: The present concept is a compact portable colour sensor for measuring colour of a substrate. The sensor includes a lower and upper housing, and a detector portion. The detector portion includes a printed circuit board connected to an interior of the housing. The circuit board includes at least one LED and one colour sensor mounted on a bottom side thereof. At least one transparent light transmitting light pipe and a transparent material are mounted interferingly between the bottom side of the printed circuit board and the interior of the lower housing. The compact portable colour sensor is configured such that light transmitted by the LED impinges upon the substrate through a light cavity, and is at least partially reflected back to the colour sensor to take a measurement. Preferably the lower housing has an inverted truncated conical shape.

  • Patent number: 10210488
Abstract: Systems and methods for making a payment on behalf of a payer to a payee are provided. A request to make a payment on behalf of a payer to a payee is received at a first payment service provider. The first payment service provider supports a first payment network within a plurality of payment networks that each include a respective plurality of payers and payees. The payer is one of the plurality of payers and payees associated with the first payment network, and the payor is not one of the plurality of payers and payees associated with the first payment network. A second payment network within the plurality of payment networks with which the payee is associated is identified by the first payment service provider. A payment instruction to make the payment to the payee is transmitted by the first payment service provider to a second payment service provider associated with the second payment network.

  • Publication number: 20180272503
Abstract: A multi-tool plier that includes a screwdriver bit that is integrally formed with a tip of the plier jaws. The multi-tool plier provides the user the mechanical advantages of applying a sufficient force to the bit and screw, improved torque, and on-axis operation of the handle to rotate the bit on the screw. Moreover, with the screwdriver bit conveniently located at the tip of the pliers, the screwdriver bit is always at the ready, allowing an uninterrupted transition between operations with the pliers and the screwdriver. The bit elements at the ends of the plier jaws cooperatively define a drive bit for a variety of rotary fastener, including a standard, a Phillips, a Torx, a square, an Allen, or other geometrically shaped drive bit.

  • Patent number: 9897534
Abstract: The present concept is a method of preparing an egg to determine the color of the egg using an egg yolk cover. The egg yolk cover is dome-shaped with a base edge and inspection area. The egg yolk cover eliminates ambient light from impinging on the egg yolk and is used in combination with a light sensor to determine the color of egg yolks. The light sensor includes a single flat printed circuit board with a top and bottom side which includes at least one LED light and one color sensor, at least one light pipe receiving light from the LED and transmitting it onto a substrate at an angle theta and a tube frame including an optical tube for receiving light reflections from the substrate. The light pipes and the tube frame are compression fit between the printed circuit board and a lower housing. To determine the color of the egg yolk, the egg is first cracked onto a flat surface. The egg yolk cover is then placed over the egg yolk and the color sensor is placed onto the inspection area to measure the color.
