Abstract: A system for monitoring electrical device usage and controlling power thereto includes a plurality of power outlet control plugs and an external computing device in electrical communication therewith. Each power outlet control plug includes a smart plug in electrical communication with an electrical device. The smart plug includes electrical circuitry, power prongs that are receivable by an AC wall outlet and a power receptacle that includes slots into which the plug of the power cord of an electrical device is received. The electrical circuitry of the smart plug is selectively switchable between a first state and a second state to selectively connect and disconnect power from the AC wall outlet to the electrical device. The external computing device provides a control signal to the smart plug of one of the power outlet control plugs to selectively switch the electrical circuitry thereof between the first state and the second state.
