  • Patent number: 9733134
Abstract: A method includes providing a printed circuit board (“PCB”) supporting a solderable component, and supporting a first fuse on the PCB, where the first fuse includes a first temperature-sensitive element that measurably changes in response to exposure to ambient thermal conditions exceeding a first threshold temperature. The PCB, the solderable component, and the first fuse define an apparatus. The method includes performing a PCB assembly manufacturing process, and then testing the first fuse to determine whether, during the PCB assembly manufacturing process, the first fuse was exposed to ambient thermal conditions exceeding a first threshold temperature. The first threshold temperature is a minimum temperature where the PCB assembly manufacturing process is to be carried out, a maximum temperature at which the PCB assembly manufacturing process is to occur, or a first intermediate temperature between the minimum and maximum temperatures.

  • Patent number: 9732809
Abstract: A clutch includes a first race, a second race, a pawl, a post, and a shoe. The second race defines a cam surface. The pawl is supported in the first race to pivot between an engaged position and a disengaged position such that contact between the cam surface and the pawl in the engaged position prevents relative rotation between the first and second races in at least one direction. The post is supported in the first race to slide between a first and a second position such that in the first position the post forces the pawl into the disengaged position. The shoe is configured to pivot with respect to the first race in response to a magnetic field to slide the post into the second position.

  • Patent number: 9720860
Abstract: A solid state drive (SSD) storage system includes a memory controller, host interface, memory channels and solid state memories as storage elements. The completion status of sub-commands of individual read commands is monitored and used to determine an optimal selection for returning data for individual read commands. The completion of a read command may be dependent on the completion of multiple individual memory accesses at various times. The queueing of multiple read commands which may proceed in parallel or out of order causes interleaving of multiple memory accesses from different commands to individual memories. A system and method is disclosed which enables the selection, firstly of completed read commands, independent of the order they were queued and, secondly, of partially completed read commands which are most likely to complete with the least interruption or delay, for data transfer, which in turn improves the efficiency of the data transfer interface.

  • Patent number: 9714870
Abstract: An apparatus according to the invention may include one or more fuses placed on a printed circuit board on which an printed circuit board assembly is formed. Each fuse changes in response to ambient thermal conditions beyond a threshold temperature. The change can be detected with a testing apparatus such as in in-circuit tester after a process such as a solder assembly process to determine whether the process was performed within the desire temperature range. Fuses may be positioned at different locations on the printed circuit board to provide localized and differentiated temperature measurements. An array of fuses may be designed to change at a progressing sequence of ambient temperatures to enable trends in the process temperature to be recorded. Temperature data may be recorded and linked to an identifier on the apparatus such as a product serial number.

  • Patent number: 9679724
Abstract: A contact assembly for an electrical component includes: a bus member; and a switching assembly structured to move between first and second positions. The switching assembly includes: a stationary contact extending from the bus member, a movable contact engaging the stationary contact when the switching assembly is in the first position and disengaging the stationary contact when the switching assembly moves toward the second position, and a switching device coupled to the bus member. When the switching assembly is in the first position, the switching device and the stationary contact are electrically connected in parallel with the bus member and the movable contact. When the switching assembly moves from the first position toward the second position, the switching device disconnects power after the movable contact disengages the stationary contact in order that electrical disconnection between the bus member and the movable contact occurs within the switching device.
