Abstract: Pain associated with a wound in a body of a patient caused by contact between a garment worn by the patient and a sensitive portion of the body of the patient proximate the wound may be alleviated by providing at least one spacer for a garment wearable by the patient, wherein the spacer is disposed in a position adjacent the garment wherein, when the patient wears the garment, the spacer does not contact the sensitive portion of the body of the patient proximate the wound, and wherein the spacer has a thickness sufficient to substantially inhibit the garment from contacting the sensitive portion of the body of the patient proximate the wound.
