Patent number: 10311498Abstract: A method and system for recommending a size of a wearable item uses a data set of wearable items, in which the data for each wearable item comprises a size and, for each size, one or more additional parameters related to the fit or feel of the item. A processing device receives a selection of one of the wearable items and a size for the selected wearable item from a user, accesses the data set to analyze the one or more additional parameters for the selected item in the selected size, and prompts the user to provide personalized sizing information. Based upon the personalized sizing information, which can include primary and secondary sizing information, the processing device provides a recommended size in the wearable item for the user. Additionally, the processing device can determine if the wearable item runs true to a standard size and, if not, adjust the recommended size accordingly.Type: GrantFiled: December 5, 2014Date of Patent: June 4, 2019Inventors: Matthew Tyler Wilkinson, Nicholas B. End, Grant B. Fresen, Erich Wolodzko

Patent number: 10119814Abstract: A system for recommending a size of a wearable item implements a method that includes identifying a reference wearable item and a size for the reference wearable item. The system accesses a wearable item database and retrieves a three-dimensional model of the reference wearable item. The system also receives, via a user interface, a functional requirement. The system accesses the wearable item database and identifies set of candidate objects, each of which satisfies the functional requirement. Based on the size of the reference wearable item, the system will determine a size for each of the candidate objects. The system will select at least one of the plurality of candidate objects as a recommended object and presents each recommended object and the size of each recommended object to a user.Type: GrantFiled: March 15, 2016Date of Patent: November 6, 2018Assignee: Amazon Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Matthew Tyler Wilkinson, Grant B. Fresen, Nicholas B. End, Erich Wolodzko

Patent number: 9752874Abstract: A system for measuring dimensions and/or other internal properties of a shoe, garment or other object of interest is described. The system includes a fixture having a measurement tip. When the tip is placed inside of the object of interest, a processor collects positional data from the fixture to develop a three-dimensional model of the interior of the object. If the measurement tip includes one or more pressure sensors, the processor may collect pressure data and use the pressure data to include stretch properties in the three-dimensional model.Type: GrantFiled: November 23, 2016Date of Patent: September 5, 2017Assignee: Amazon Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Matthew Tyler Wilkinson, Grant B. Fresen, Nicholas B. End, Michael Lin

Publication number: 20150242929Abstract: A recommendation system collects and aggregates customer feedback information to improve recommendations of wearable items to a consumer as well as provide manufacturers feedback related to their products. For example, the recommendation system may provide a user of a product selection system with an automated recommendation of a recommended size for a selected wearable item. After the user has purchased the selected wearable item, the system may present the user with a prompt to provide feedback relating to the item and/or a quality of the automated recommendation. When the system receives the feedback from the user and other consumers, the system may aggregate the user feedback to improve an aspect of the recommended size of the selected wearable item in the future. Additionally, the user's feedback, or a collection of aggregated user feedback, can be provided to the manufacturer of the purchased item.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 24, 2015Publication date: August 27, 2015Inventors: Matthew Tyler Wilkinson, Nicholas B. Publication number: 20140032369Abstract: A method and system for displaying footwear information. The method and system utilize a database on a computer readable medium, the database including a plurality of footwear representations including various measurement parameters. A user inputs a selection of a reference footwear model. A footwear representation of the reference footwear model is loaded from the database along with footwear representations for a plurality of additional models of footwear. The footwear representation for the reference footwear model and the footwear representations for the additional models of footwear are compared to identify at least one of the additional models of footwear having similar measurement parameters as the reference footwear model. Additional models identified are presented to the user as a recommendation.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 25, 2013Publication date: January 30, 2014Applicant: Shoefitr, Inc.Inventors: Nicholas B.
