    Abstract: An engine for aeromechanical instability abatement includes a sensor configured to capture data from rotating blades of the engine system, a airflow effector device, and an engine controller. The engine controller is configured to control the airflow effector device according to a nominal schedule, detect, based on a signal from the sensor indicating a vibration amplitude of the rotating blades within a frequency band, an incipient instability condition, in response to the incipient instability condition being present, determine a modified control parameter for at least one of the airflow effector device, and control the airflow effector device according to the modified control parameter, deviating from the nominal schedule.

    Abstract: The present invention addresses IBD from the standpoint of mucosal stem cells cloned from defined regions of the gastrointestinal tract. In the case of pediatric Crohn's disease, for example, isolation of those stem cells according to the methods of the present invention reveals a pattern of inflammatory gene expression in stem cells from the terminal ileum and colon that is epigenetically maintained despite months of continuous cultivation in the absence of immune or stromal cells, or of intestinal microbes. Superimposed on this distributed inflammatory phenotype is a differentiation defect that profoundly and specifically alters the mucosal barrier properties of the terminal ileum. The co-existence of diseased and normal stem cells within the same endoscopic biopsies of Crohn's disease patients implicates an epigenetically enforced heterogeneity among mucosal stem cells in the dynamics of this condition.

    Abstract: Described herein are polymer compositions including a polyphthalamide having a carbon/amide molar ratio greater than 8, a functionalized polyolefin, and a glass fiber, where the weight ratio of the functionalized polyolefin to the total weight of the polyphthalamide and the functionalized polyolefin in the polymer composition is more than 0 and at most 27%. It was surprisingly discovered that the polymer compositions had excellent dielectric performance, acid resistance, and improved mechanical performance, particularly tensile elongation and un-notched Izod impact, relative to corresponding polymer compositions omitting such functionalized polyolefin. Due to the excellent performance, the polymer composition can be desirably incorporated into mobile electronic device components.
